A New Uncharted Game Is Indeed On The Way, Confirms Yet Another Credible Insider

'Obviously A New Uncharted Is Coming.'

Story Highlight
  • A new Uncharted game is seemingly indeed happening, according to a notable industry insider.
  • Multiple leakers have made similar claims in the past, fueling the rumor mill of a new game.
  • The next title might still be many years away, since Naughty Dog is focused on its new IP.

The Uncharted IP set a precedent in the action-adventure and historical fiction genres that has not been surpassed to this day. Microsoft tried to create its own version of the series at one point, and there has also been a ‘slop’ fake clone on PlayStation over the years.

However, there has been nothing from Naughty Dog about a new game since 2017. That might be changing soon, as yet another credible industry insider now claims that the studio is indeed secretly working on Uncharted 5 behind the scenes.

Why it matters: Uncharted 4 came out nearly a decade ago, which has made many gamers anticipate a new mainline entry. However, meeting the IP’s existing high standards could prove challenging for Naughty Dog.

This tidbit comes from VGC’s Jordan Middler from the latest podcast episode. The insider explains that a new Uncharted game is ‘obviously’ on the way, even if Naughty Dog already left the franchise on a very good note.

Uncharted. Obviously a new Uncharted is coming, like it’s on the way. But they they left Uncharted at its peak, and didn’t do a new one for a very long time.

He acknowledges that the studio hasn’t done a new game for a very long time. However, that doesn’t mean the team abandoned the franchise entirely.

This rumor mill was further affirmed by the new Metro game announcement leaker, Alir, amid reports that Naughty Dog was working on two projects simultaneously. Furthermore, the franchise director has also teased a full-on revival on social media in the past.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
The Uncharted franchise is among the most popular in the action-adventure genre.

Since Naughty Dog is working on launching its new Intergalactic franchise first in mid-2027, we likely won’t see Uncharted 5 until around late 2030 or beyond.

Regardless, the next Uncharted game might focus on a ‘passing the torch’ narrative, potentially seeing Cassie Drake step into the world of adventuring and treasure hunting. It could also be a prequel featuring a young Nate and Sully.
