Saros Is Selling Below Older PlayStation Titles, Analysts Say

Expert Verified By

Even Gran Turismo 7 Is Outselling Saros.

Story Highlight
  • Saros is selling fewer copies than PlayStation’s first-party games launched years ago.
  • Astro Bot, Gran Turismo 7, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have sold more units in 2026 than Saros.
  • The action game has only brought in $30 million in revenue so far.

PlayStation has an exciting first-party lineup scheduled to release in the next year or two, with titles like Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey garnering significant interest from fans. However, the company’s recent exclusive output hasn’t turned out to be as good as it expected.

Saros, the latest PlayStation first-party game, hasn’t sold much according to analysts, shipping around 500k copies over a month after its launch. Now, new estimates have revealed that the game is selling even less than older PS exclusives.

Why it matters: With AAA development budgets rising every year, the market for titles with niche appeal is decreasing, and Housemarque should focus on a wider audience if it wants to survive.

As reported by Alinea Analytics, Saros has sold fewer copies in 2026 than games like Astro Bot and Gran Turismo 7, which launched as PS5 exclusives years ago. The Housemarque title has shipped 415k copies so far on the console, which is less than 2024’s Astro Bot.

In addition, Saros has made just $30.5 million in revenue since it launched, selling fewer copies than 2022’s Gran Turismo 7, which was able to ship 835k units and became PlayStation’s second-most successful first-party game of 2026.

Furthermore, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is also ahead of Saros in sales, moving almost 700k units and bringing in $41 million in revenue. Meanwhile, Ghost of Yotei has been the most successful PS5 exclusive in 2026, selling over a million copies and grossing twice as much in revenue as Saros.

Saros
The game has grossed less revenue than Astro Bot and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

One can say that this is to be expected of an AAA title that launched in 2025, but falling behind games like Astro Bot, Gran Turismo 7, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in sales is a damning indictment of the Housemarque project. The action game’s performance is certainly confusing, as Saros reached the top of PlayStation charts in multiple regions at the time of its release.

Do you think the appeal of Saros is too niche? Should Housemarque make their titles more welcoming to newcomers? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
