After Nvidia, AMD Will Follow Suit With Price Hike!

Story Highlight
  • AMD has informed retailers and distributors of an impending price hike for its RDNA 4 graphics card family.
  • GPUs like the RX 9070 XT will be hit the hardest from this revision, with prices going up by as much as 20%.
  • This change is expected to come into effect worldwide in a few weeks.

Nvidia recently hiked its GPU prices, and as a result, the RTX 50 series graphics cards are now up to 2x more expensive than they were on average. New reports suggest that AMD has plans to follow suit with a price increase of up to 20% across the RX 9000 GPU lineup.

Why it matters: Component shortages and memory costs have pushed the prices of all consumer electronics higher. GPUs have been among the electronics hit hardest by these changes.

According to Board Channels’ report, retailers and distributors in China have received new pricing guidelines from AMD for Q3 2026. This new update makes the most popular GPUs in the RX 9000 lineup more expensive.

For reference, the RX 9070 XT launched at an MSRP of around $830 (5,599 RMB) in China. This GPU will now cost $1037 (6,999 RMB). This is a 25% increase on one of the most popular RDNA 4 options.

Similarly, the RX 9060 XT 8GB will see its price rising from $400 (2,699 RMB) to $459 (3,099 RMB) in the region. The Chinese-only RX 9070 GRE will also see prices go up from $592 (3,999 RMB) to $680 (4,599 RMB).

Keep in mind that the global price difference may vary, since these sources reveal the difference in Chinese pricing. However, the impact of AMD’s decision should become apparent worldwide in a few weeks.

At present, a graphics card like the RX 9070 XT is still available for around $700 in the US. Therefore, it may be best to pull the trigger on any longstanding GPU purchase plans before AMD’s planned pricing adjustments roll out across all countries.
