- Sony has announced a PS5 Digital Edition for Japan at around $350.
- This edition comes with Midnight Black plates already installed and a black controller.
- PlayStation will launch the console on November 19, likely in an attempt to target GTA 6 fans in Japan.
It’s no secret that the PS5 has become quite a bit more expensive since its 2020 release. With the upcoming arrival of GTA 6, the PS5 Pro has also gone through an increase in prices, mainly due to strong demand for the console right now.
At the same time, Sony seems to have announced a brand new PS5 console specifically for Japan at an extremely enticing price.
Why it matters: The PS5 becomes quite a bit more appealing at Sony’s new price tag compared to its current MSRP.

As reported by Genki, a Midnight Black PS5 Digital Edition console will soon be available to buy in Japan for close to $350.
The same console would cost $600 in the US. However, those looking to buy a Midnight Black PS5 like the one shown above would need to spend an additional $50 for console plates.
Because similarly enticing deals have existed exclusively for the Japanese market in the past, fans should not expect to see PS5 consoles available at these prices globally anytime soon.
PlayStation also confirms that it will launch an external disc drive accessory in Midnight Black as a companion to this console. Both will be available on November 19, the same day as GTA 6’s upcoming release.
Therefore, it appears PlayStation is targeting Japanese customers interested in GTA 6 with this console.
