- The PS5 Pro stock is currently short in the market due to demand driven by GTA 6.
- GameStop is now selling the used Pro console for a ridiculously high $1,400/$1,500.
- The retailer says selling it $600 above the new console’s MSRP is an intentional move.
Console demand is at its highest in a long time due to GTA 6 hype. Unfortunately, this is also the worst time to get one, since the prices are through the roof due to the ongoing memory crisis. And things are getting even worse.
PS5 Pro is the best place to experience the title, and a major US retailer has announced that they will be selling the used console for up to an astronomical $1,400. This puts the used price $600 above the original MSRP.
Why it matters: There could be multiple reasons why the retailer could be doing it. They could be saving up stock for GTA 6’s eventual release, which is quite unethical, or some believe they could be jailbroken consoles, too.
GameStop has announced that they’ll be selling the used PS5 Pro consoles starting at $1,400 and going as high as $1,500. The retailer says that the decision is intentional, but hasn’t actually revealed the reason.
There is a shortage of the Pro console, and it’s selling out on most platforms. On platforms like eBay, it is also being sold at scalped prices of $1,400. However, it still matches the price that GameStop is selling the used one for.

Anyhow, this is an insane amount for a console, and that too used. Unfortunately, the hardware prices are ridiculous these days, and with GTA 6 just over a month left, most people will rush to buy them despite the price tag.
