Average Framerate

Though the RX 9070 XT beat the RTX 4070 Ti handily in rasterized games, it did not perform as well in the RT titles. Though the RX 9070 XT has improved in RT, it still lacks quite a lot compared to Nvidia. Overall, there was only a 1% difference, with the RX 9070 XT being slightly faster on average.

1% Lows

There was more of a difference in the minimum framerates, with the RX 9070 XT being only 6.75% ahead of its rival. The differences we saw here were similar as the average framerates, with the rasterized games running smoother on the AMD card, while Nvidia took the lead in Ray Tracing.

Productivity Tests

Nvidia wiped the floor when it came to productivity tests. The AI test that we ran was significantly better on the RTX 4070 Ti, the Blender render was blazing fast because of the Optix rendering, and Premiere Pro was more or less a draw. Regardless, Nvidia comes out the clear when it comes to productivity.

Winner: RTX 4070 Ti

Though it does lack in performance, the RTX 4070 Ti comes out ahead when it comes to power consumption. On average in our gaming tests, the RX 9070 XT drew about 30% more power, whereas the spikes in performance were about 23% apart. On average, power efficiency was significantly better on the Nvidia card.

Price And Value

GPURX 9070 XTRTX 4070 TiPrice Difference
Launch MSRP💲599💲79933.39%
Current Price💲1199💲143819.93%

The price of the RX 9070 XT brings a bargain in the current GPU market… if you can find it at MSRP. The MSRP suggests that the RX 9070 XT is 33% cheaper than its rival, but the exorbitant price hikes put it at only a 20% advantage. Both of these cards are extortionately overpriced at the moment.

What We Recommend

RTX 4070 Ti: The RTX 4070 Ti might seem like the obvious wrong choice for most people, but there is a large subset of people that would benefit from the strengths of the RTX 4070 Ti. If you want to do creative work like Blender and you also like RT gaming, the 4070 Ti would be an appealing card for you.

RX 9070 XT: AMD did a great job with this card, but the market has not been kind to it. It does perform exceptionally well for its price bracket, but the price bracket has not been followed, at least up to this point. If you want to game and you don’t care about ray tracing, the RX 9070 XT is an excellent card.

If you prioritize creative work and ray-traced gaming, the RTX 4070 Ti is the better choice due to its strong RT performance and CUDA support. However, if your main focus is gaming without ray tracing and you want the best price-to-performance ratio, the RX 9070 XT offers excellent value.
