However, rumors have suggested that Firesprite, one of PlayStation’s recently acquired studios, has been working on a Twisted Metal reboot since last year. According to a journalist, this project is not too far from an official reveal.

Job listings from Firesprite have hinted at a focus on vehicular combat in the past. Combined with reports from Jeff Grubb and other reliable insiders, they make a strong case for the developer’s involvement in this project.
PlayStation appears to be taking a live-service approach for the series, positioning Twisted Metal as one of the many multiplayer titles of this generation. As such, the game is also expected to launch on PC from day one.

Last year, PlayStation debuted a new TV show for the franchise.
This was already a strong indication that a revival was in the works, and Sony has also confirmed another season of this series. Therefore, the announcement could line up with a brand-new trailer for season 2.
