- Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has discussed her targets for exclusivity with Xbox in the future.
- She tells players to expect a steady stream of exclusives from the platform each year.
- For now, Gears of War: E-Day launches as an exclusive in 2026, followed by Clockwork Revolution in 2027.
Xbox has recently flip-flopped between deciding on exclusivity and third-party releases for its biggest games multiple times. However, with Asha Sharma now in charge, the gaming giant has returned to exclusives with Gears of War: E-Day.
Following this release, Clockwork Revolution will mark yet another exclusive release in 2027, and according to Asha Sharma’s latest internal message, Xbox plans to offer exclusives each year moving forward.
Why it matters: Xbox now appears to be finding a comfortable middle ground where it can focus on both multiplatform and exclusive titles as opposed to sticking to a single strategy.
In her latest internal message, dubbed Next 100 Days: Xbox Reset, Asha Sharma discussed the return of exclusivity for the brand.
She pointed to the two big exclusives coming to the platform in 2026 and 2027, and then went on to note that players can expect this pattern to continue moving forward in the coming years.
Players can continue to expect signature exclusives from us every year.

This means that exclusivity will now be a prominent part of the Xbox ecosystem. As the gaming giant prepares for the launch of Xbox Helix, it may already be discussing plans for potential exclusives in 2028 and 2029 after Clockwork Revolution.

Previously, Asha Sharma discussed the challenges associated with bringing exclusives to a struggling platform like Xbox.
As such, the brand will likely be very careful about which games it pursues exclusivity for. This could also mean that no more than one or two annual exclusives show up on Xbox for a while.
