When Xbox Is Healthy, The Company Will Look At Making More Exclusive Titles According To Sharma.

Story Highlight
  • Asha Sharma has revealed that Xbox will look to do more exclusives when business is healthier.
  • The CEO disclosed that the company isn’t doing too well right now.
  • As a result, only two games have been announced as exclusives to bring players to the platform.

Following months of complaints, Asha Sharma has finally brought exclusive titles back to the Xbox ecosystem. During the Xbox Games Showcase, the new CEO announced that Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution won’t launch on any other console besides the Xbox Series X|S.

Consequently, many fans are claiming that the console war has been reignited, and with Sharma once again vouching to make Xbox a platform that can compete with PlayStation, this is just the start.

Why it matters: Exclusives will be necessary if Xbox wants to compete in the next generation and might be the only way the company can be healthy once again.

In a new interview with Fortune, Asha Sharma stated that Xbox will develop more exclusive titles when the business is doing better than it is currently. The new boss explained that the company isn’t healthy right now, and as a result, only two signature games have been made exclusive to the platform.

This is a journey for us. Our business isn’t particularly healthy, as you noted, and so we’re starting by introducing 1 or 2 signature exclusives, and as the business is healthy, we will look to try and do more.

However, with the CEO planning to reset Xbox in the next 100 days and solve issues like meeting players’ demands, the company will try to do more exclusives when it is healthy.

Sharma also doubled down on bringing more exclusive content to Xbox, saying that it’s hard to find a single platform without exclusive services, and as a result, Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will not be ported to PlayStation.

Gears of War E-Day won’t launch on the PS5

Insiders have reported that a PS5 port of Gears of War E-Day has been developed, with rating websites like PEGI also listing the console as one of the playable platforms. With other rumors also suggesting that Halo Campaign Evolved was pulled from State of Play at the last minute, it seems like Asha Sharma is shifting the direction of the company slowly but surely.
