- Xbox has reportedly greenlit a new Crash Bandicoot game behind the scenes.
- The rumor comes from a trusted insider who also leaked the existence of the latest Spyro entry.
- Activision’s Toys for Bob is expected to be the studio behind the new Bandicoot project.
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro IPs have both defined the 3D platformer genre during the PS1 era and continue to boast a massive global appeal to this day. So, a lack of new games in these franchises has been a point of contention for hardcore fans over the years.
However, Xbox is finally returning to these classic, hearty series.
We know that a new Spyro game was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, which is in development by Toys for Bob. Now, a trusted industry insider claims that the company has also greenlit a new Crash Bandicoot entry behind the scenes.
Why it matters: It’s more than likely that Toys for Bob is already working on an unannounced Crash Bandicoot game in some capacity. The last mainline Bandicoot was 2020’s Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, so fans are highly excited to see a new installment.

This rumor mill comes from the emerging insider No Arms and No Legs on Twitter, who also leaked numerous game reveals before they happened, including the new Spyro game at the Xbox Games Showcase.
The last title, Crash Bandicoot 5, was reportedly cancelled after spending three years in development. It was allegedly a crossover game with Spyro the Dragon. Unfortunately, no details about the unannounced entry are known yet.
The insider also does not mention which studio is working on the new Crash Bandicoot title. Although Activision’s Toys for Bob is expected to be its developer since the team also helmed Crash Bandicoot 4, Crash Team Rumble, and N. Sane Trilogy.

Toys for Bob is also working on the new Spyro game, so major development on the Crash Bandicoot entry will likely begin after it comes out in Spring 2027. We might not see our favorite bandicoot until the early 2030s, in the worst case.
