The Classic Game is Finally Getting A Remake!

Story Highlight
  • Nintendo has announced a Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake for the Switch 2.
  • The title has been highly anticipated, considering the original is now 28 years old.
  • Fans won’t have to wait too long as it is slated for a release later this year.

Zelda is among the most popular Nintendo IPs, and holds a legendary status as it was among the pioneers to debut 3D open-world exploration games. So, when there is a new announcement in the series, fans are sure to be hyped.

At today’s Nintendo Direct, the company officially announced The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, releasing later this year. Originally released in 1998, the remake was hugely anticipated

Why it matters: Acting as a prequel in the franchise, it kind of sets up Link’s story. Since the game is now over 28 years old, a remake was necessary to cater to the modern audience and utilize the power of Switch 2.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time headlined today’s Nintendo Direct, bringing the classic to modern hardware. Surprisingly, we don’t have to wait that long either, since it is slated for 2026, but no solid release date has been revealed yet.

The trailer doesn’t give out too much, but we can expect the remake to boast next-gen visuals and improved gameplay. We also hear some very familiar notes in the trailer that will be nostalgic to long-term fans.

There was a massive demand for the remake for a long time

Anyhow, Ocarina of Time joins a very stacked year for gaming. Especially, players who own all mainstream consoles are in for a treat, as all Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo have some bangers on the way.
