- Xbox sales jump by 86% in June 2026 YoY.
- Sales effectively doubled in terms of dollar sales.
- Meanwhile, PS5 sales went down by 19% while Switch 2 sales took a bigger dip by 79%.
Xbox is having a weird 2026: there’s a blistering hope that Team Green might finally make a comeback under Asha Sharma’s new leadership, which has proven to be quite beneficial, and in just months under her tenure, real results have started to show up.
On the other hand, the failures and setbacks from the past years are also showing their results, and as a result, several studios have been detached from the brand, and the future strategy for the gaming giant is now leaning more towards core IPs and not indie games.
Whatever the case may be, Xbox fans seem to be certainly pleased with the brand’s progress despite these prices, which is why Xbox Series X|S sales have taken a big jump: an 86% improvement in June 2026 compared to last year.
Why it matters: Xbox Series X|S sales have been terrible in the past few months, and such an improvement signals positive movement for the brand going forward.
Xbox Series had a good June in the US. Units up 86% vs last June, avg price up as well. Highest US Xbox Series units this year. Last June, Xbox Series was seeing impact of the May price increase and the Switch 2 launch. So, big % growth on a smaller base last year. Still, good month for Xbox Series.

These figures come from the latest Circana report (via Mat Piscatella). The report states that June was the best month for Xbox in 2026 so far. As for June 2025, sales were pretty low due to the price hike contributed by inflated RAM prices and poor Macroeconomic conditions.
The recent price hikes also mean that Xbox Series X|S sales have nearly doubled in terms of dollar sales.
On the other hand, PS5 and Switch 2 sales have taken a dip by 79% and 19%, respectively.

Whatever the case may be, don’t expect the momentum to continue in August, because that’s when another price hike for Xbox Series X|S console takes place, bumping prices by up $150.
However, going into GTA 6’s release, expect the last wind for the sales as the biggest video game release in history will be a console exclusive. Beyond that, Microsoft will then shift its focus towards Project Helix.
