- New rumors suggest Microsoft may let players choose features and pricing in Xbox Game Pass.
- Removing certain features, such as the Xbox Cloud Service, may lower the price for your subscription.
- This ‘pick your own plan’ formula intends to make the service feel more flexible and transparent.
Xbox Game Pass is certainly changing before our eyes. The gaming service had been a huge cause of controversy due to price bumps, but the recent decision to slash the Ultimate tier’s price from $29.99 to $22.99 has won back many gamers.
This massive change comes at the cost of losing Call of Duty’s day-one privilege, which is certainly not welcomed by some users. However, a new report suggests that Microsoft may fully end this debacle by considering a ‘pick your own plan’ formula for Game Pass.
In other words, the subscription service may give players the option to select the specific features they want for their ideal tier, lowering prices accordingly.
Why it matters: Microsoft’s ambitious plan could make Game Pass dynamic for each user, essentially giving players free rein.

This shocking rumor mill comes from Windows Central’s credible insider Jez Corden, who claims that Microsoft sources are considering a long-term goal of making Game Pass more flexible.
This idea was also teased by the surfaced ‘Duet’ and ‘Triton’ codenames for Game Pass, which discussed letting players only choose first-party Xbox titles. Regardless, users could effectively decide what content options they want for their specific plan.
For instance, those skipping over Xbox Cloud Gaming and Fortnite Crew could see reduced prices. In another example, they could simply pick day-one releases instead of Minecraft Realms or the rumored Netflix subscriptions.
This grand plan could make subscription services specifically cater to each player while simultaneously removing the issue of static pricing for each current tier.

In other news, an Xbox executive recently argued that launching games on Game Pass helps developers by advertising on other platforms, thus increasing sales.
Do you think it’s a wise idea to let gamers choose the features and other elements of Game Pass for more flexibility, or would this option prove to be impractical? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
