The i5-13600K Is Seeing The Biggest Price Cut Since Release With A 40% Discount

Expert Verified By

Christmas discounts are popping up, as the i5-13600K is now available for the lowest price ever.

The Core i5-13600K launched in September 2022, making it two generations old. Despite that, it’s still a solid choice. Intel refreshed it the following year as the 14600K and recently introduced the Core Ultra 5 245K, but neither offered significant performance improvements in synthetic or gaming benchmarks. As a result, the i5-13600K continues to offer great performance in both gaming and productivity tasks, such as video editing and rendering.

Our hardware expert, Nauman Siddique, has personally tested and reviewed the i5-13600K, and he was also very impressed by just how much single- and multi-core performance Intel has managed to pack in the processor without making it an expensive option.

Therefore, if you need a good mid-range processor that can handle all kinds of tasks, the i5-13600K is a great pick. Right now, it’s on sale at Amazon with a huge 40% discount, making it the most affordable it’s ever been.

Currently, the i5-13600K is available for $196, and that’s the lowest it has ever been since its release.

Why Is The i5-13600K A Great Deal In 2024?

We tested the i5-13600K with an RTX 3090, and across all our 1080p gaming benchmarks, the CPU consistently showed exceptional performance. Consider Red Dead Redemption 2, where we saw 141 average FPS, and CyberPunk, which ran at over 135 FPS. Similarly, in our Geekbench 5 run, the CPU scored 1986 points during single-core testing and 17520 during multi-core testing. For reference, in our Core Ultra 5 245K review, the latest mid-range CPU from Intel scored 2247 and 23187, respectively. That’s not a huge gap considering the two-year difference between the two processors.

Apart from performance, the i5-13600K is also a great choice if you’re after the most value out of your money. That’s because the CPU supports both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, and you can pair it with either an Intel 600- or 700- series motherboard, so there are way more options to pick from, and you can easily save costs. In comparison, the latest Core Ultra 5 245K can only be used with an 800-series motherboard with DDR5 RAM, as it has a different LGA 1851 socket.

If you end up considering the i5-13600K, I highly recommend that you also go through these guides to pick the best components to pair with it. Since the processor has been out for quite some time, we have had plenty of time to test it different setups, making it easier for us to recommend the best options.
