Note that we’ve taken averages from 15 variants, and prices for a few cards are already a bit on the higher side for each card.
Final Verdict—What We Recommend?
RTX 4070: With the performance it has shown, the RTX 4070 is a great 1440p card. Apart from a few games, it can easily run games over 60 FPS in this resolution. Unlike most cards, its price hasn’t gone beyond an unjustifiable point over the years, which is something we love about it.
RTX 5070: This is a great 1440p card and also an entry-level 4K card, if you utilize its DLSS 4. But whether it’s great or not comes down to its price. Since we’re seeing a trend where the prices of new cards are going way beyond their MSRP, the RTX 5070’s price could increase unreasonably higher.
All-in-all, the RTX 4070 is a great card but we believe it has served its purpose and it’s time for an upgrade. So, we recommend you get the RTX 5070 only if its price stops at a similar price tag compared to the RTX 4070. Slightly higher is also fine. But if it exceeds its value, it is better to stick with the RTX 4070.
RTX 5070’s drivers are up-to-date and it already features DLSS 4 support for Fragpunk and GTA V’s ray-tracing update. Nvidia will keep bringing more updates. The RTX 5070 has enhanced AI tensor cores, with 988 AI TOPS compared to the RTX 4070’s 466 AI TOPS. This makes the RTX 5070 better at handling AI workloads. Yes, the RTX 5070 is better in ray tracing than the RTX 4070, all thanks to its higher 4th-gen RT cores compared to the RTX 4070’s lower 3rd-gen cores. For RTX 5070, any CPU that is below AMD Ryzen 9000 or Intel Core Ultra may cause bottlenecks. For 4070, avoid the Ryzen 5 5600, or the 5600X, and the Intel Core i5-12400F. The RTX 5070 is your best bet for future-proofing because it offers high performance, supports the newer PCIe gen 5.0, and uses DLSS 4 which makes it suitable for 4K.FAQs
