• We noticed that, right off the bat, the RX 7800 XT outperforms the RTX 3070’s 89 FPS by a significant 28%, scoring an astounding 118 FPS.
• With a smooth 1% low of 89 FPS, the RX 7800 XT offers a more fluid gaming experience than the RTX 3070, which tops out at 74 FPS.

A Plague Tale Requiem

• Now let’s move on to A Plague Tale Requiem, where the RX 7800 XT has an advantage over the RTX 3070 with 86 FPS. The RTX 3070 only manages 59 FPS, about 37.2% slower.
• The RX 7800 XT consistently maintains a low of about 73 FPS, whereas the RTX 3070’s 1% low drops to 46 FPS.

Hogwarts Legacy

• We saw that the RX 7800 XT averages 101 FPS in Hogwarts Legacy, which is around 33.5% higher than that obtained by the RTX 3070, which is 72 FPS.
• The RX 7800 XT reaches 1% lows at 74 FPS, whereas the RTX 3070 reaches ar 52 FPS.

Cyberpunk 2077

• The RX 7800 XT outperforms the RTX 3070 in Cyberpunk 2077, averaging 95 FPS, while the other one struggles with 62 FPS, more than 42% behind the RX 7800 XT.
• Remarkably, the RX 7800 XT sustains a consistent 78 FPS at the 1% lows, while the RTX 3070 drops to 42 FPS.

Hitman 3

• We observed that the RX 7800 XT’s 145 FPS surpasses the RTX 3070, which has an average of 103 FPS in Hitman 3, by an approximate margin of 33.8%.

Overall Gaming Performance

While both GPUs offered excellent gaming experiences, the RX 7800 XT consistently outperformed the RTX 3070 by a considerable margin of 34.4%. We also saw a notable difference in the 1% low performance. The RX 7800 XT had better 1% lows, averaging resulting in a huge 26.1% difference in 1% lows between the two GPUs.

I highly recommend the RTX 3070 because it offers an incredible performance-to-performance ratio at 1440p, reaching over 60 FPS. This makes it even better on 1080p since the performance may exceed 100 FPS.

Now that we’re talking about temperatures, two different stories emerge about the RX 7800 XT and the RTX 3070. The RX 7800 XT maintained a colder temperature of 55.2°C, while the RTX 3070 recorded a temperature of 63.8°C with an estimated difference of 14.4%.

Power Consumption

Regarding power usage, the RX 7800 XT, on average, consumed around 243W across the five games. The RTX 3070, in contrast, showed an average power usage of 216.64W, which was more modest. This corresponds to a noteworthy 11.4% difference in power use between the two GPUs.

Price And Value

Since its release, the RTX 3070’s price has been slightly reduced, precisely by 8.3%. As the RX 7800 XT is a recent release, its price hasn’t deviated much for most of its variants. However, a few variants cost around $550, making these variants 9.7% more pricier than its MSRP. Currently, the RTX 3070 is 13.1% cheaper than the RX 7800 XT.

RTX 3070 Vs RX 7800 XT: What Do We Recommend

RX 7800 XT: We strongly suggest the RX 7800 XT as it is best for users who value powerful gaming performance at 1440p and 1080p, as well as modern ray tracing features. Additionally, it showed lower temperatures than the RTX 3070, which is always a plus point.

RTX 3070: If you want an affordable card with decent performance in 1440p and excellent performance in 1080p, we recommend you get the RTX 3070. You can extract the most out of this card at 1440p by lowering the graphics settings a bit. It is also the most power-efficient option out of the two cards.
