Gaming Benchmarks
We find no substantial edge in either graphics card because both GPUs boast nearly identical specs. However, the RTX 5070 stands out with its cutting-edge Blackwell architecture. To gauge the true performance of the RTX 5070 vs RTX 4070 Super, we rigorously tested them across eight demanding games at 1440p resolution.

The specifications of the gaming system we used for these benchmarks were as follows:

Hogwarts Legacy
- In our first gameplay of Hogwarts Legacy, the RTX 5070 produced 106 FPS on average, providing a 7 FPS or (7.1%) edge over the RTX 4070 Super, which delivered 99 FPS on average.
- The RTX 5070 proved better stability in gameplay, upholding 68 FPS in the lowest 1% performance bracket, (15.2%) ahead of the RTX 4070 Super, which held 59 FPS.
Marvel Rivals
- During our Marvel Rivals session, the RTX 5070 surpassed the RTX 4070 Super by 2 FPS, or (2.6%), with an average frame rate of 80 FPS. The latter averaged 78 FPS.
- In the worst 1% performance testing, the RTX 5070 unfailingly achieved 54 FPS, surpassing the RTX 4070 Super’s frame rate of 50 FPS by (8.0%).
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
- While playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl at 1440p, the RTX 4070 Super averaged 58 FPS, exceeding the RTX 5070 (56 FPS) by 3.6%.
- The RTX 5070 demonstrated more resilience by holding 49 FPS in the lowest 1% performance. In comparison, the RTX 4070 Super managed only 43 FPS, resulting in a (13.9%) advantage for the RTX 5070.
Starfield
- Our Starfield benchmarks show the RTX 4070 Super at 74 FPS, offering a 4 FPS (5.7%) advantage over the RTX 5070, averaging 70 FPS.
- During this gameplay analysis, the RTX 4070 Super maintained a stable 63 FPS in the lowest 1% performance, surpassing the RTX 5070’s 59 FPS by (6.8%).
The Last of Us Part I
- With an average of 92 FPS, the RTX 5070 provided a 2 FPS (2.2%) edge over the RTX 4070 Super, which recorded 90 FPS in The Last of Us Part I.
- The RTX 5070 provided 80 FPS in the lowest 1% frame rates; similarly, the RTX 4070 Super delivered nearly the same performance, achieving 79 FPS.
Alan Wake 2 – RT

- With a steady 38 FPS in the lowest 1% performance, the RTX 4070 Super outperformed the RTX 5070, which achieved 32 FPS. This, the RTX 4070 Super marked a notable (15.8%) gain.
Cyberpunk 2077 – RT
- The RTX 4070 Super delivered an average of 62 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing ON, providing a 2 FPS (3.33%) performance gain over the RTX 5070, which achieved 60 FPS.
- In Cyberpunk 2077, the RTX 4070 Super consistently delivered 50 FPS in the lowest 1%, outperforming the RTX 5070’s 48 FPS by (4.2%).
Dying Light 2 Stay Human – RT
- Concluding the benchmarks with Dying Light 2 Stay Human, we saw the RTX 5070 averaging 82 FPS, offering a massive 10 FPS (13.9%) edge over the RTX 4070 Super’s 72 FPS.
- The RTX 5070 ensured smooth gameplay by maintaining 70 FPS in the worst 1%. Moreover, it held a (9.4%) edge over the RTX 4070 Super, which managed 64 FPS.

Average Frame Rate
We enjoyed the RTX 5070 vs RTX 4070 Super battle as it was a captivating duel rather than a one-sided victory. The RTX 5070 asserted dominance in four titles, while the RTX 4070 Super answered by leading in the other four games. Assuming the overall average, the RTX 5070 performed 1.5% better.
Low 1% Frame Rate
The low 1% performance trend across the tested games was also the same, with the RTX 5070 leading in some games while the RTX 4070 Super in others. Upon calculating the overall averaged results, we find that the RTX 5070 is 0.9% better than the RTX 4070 Super in the worst 1% performance scenarios.
Productivity Performance
In productivity tests, we see a clear trend. The RTX 5070 unfailingly takes the lead. Though the margin remains narrow, the RTX 4070 Super could not take the lead. The overall productivity results indicate that the RTX 5070 is about 2.5% more promising than the RTX 4070 Super.

Due to the RTX 5070’s 30W or 13.6% higher TDP, we observed a correspondingly expected surge in power consumption across these GPUs. The RTX 5070 consumed 7.9% more energy in our gaming sessions. Regarding performance per watt, the RTX 4070 Super provides 6.3% more FPS per watt.

Being a next-gen GPU, the RTX 5070 brags an enhanced cooling mechanism by keeping a 61°C gaming temperature in our tests. In contrast, the RTX 4070 Super had a slightly higher temperature of 67°C. Thus, based on these findings, we conclude that the RTX 5070 is 10.0% more thermally efficient.

As expected, the RTX 5070 sold out quickly after launch. If restocked at $550, it would be a top-value choice. The RTX 4070 Super is also scarce, with prices exceeding $900. We think that spending that much on the RTX 4070 Super is not wise because you can get better GPUs with a $1000 budget.
What We Recommend?
GeForce RTX 5070: The RTX 5070 is based on Nvidia’s avant-garde Blackwell architecture and excels in 1440p gaming. It excels in thermal management. Though it boasts next-gen Ray Tracing cores, it still fails to surpass predictions, leaving room for upgrades. Further, we expected more from this card.
GeForce RTX 4070 Super: The RTX 4070 Super is a competent graphics card also designed for 1440p gaming. With its superior power efficiency, it not only enhances performance but also reduces running costs. It has better ray tracing capabilities. But it is not available near its MSRP now.
We suggest the RTX 5070 as an excellent budget-friendly GPU at $550. However, above this price, you can get better options (like the new AMD RX 9070 XT). The RTX 4070 Super is also an excellent choice if available around $600.
Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture features 5th-gen Tensor Cores for faster AI, upgraded 4th-gen Ray Tracing Cores for realistic graphics, and increased memory bandwidth. Multi-frame generation uses AI to create extra frames between traditional ones. The RTX 5070, powered by Blackwell architecture, uses its Tensor Cores for this, though its performance is limited.
