Passed New Milestone In Internal Development!

Story Highlights
  • Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake was revealed in 2020.
  • The game has been through various delays and development studios since then.
  • Celebrating this game’s 20th anniversary, Ubisoft confirms that the remake is progressing well.

The Prince of Persia franchise was once among Ubisoft’s most prized IPs. However, following the success of Assassin’s Creed, the series found itself in a tough spot, eventually being replaced by its successor altogether.

However, in 2020, Ubisoft surprised everyone with the reveal of Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake. This remake immediately caused excitement among millions, but much to everyone’s disappointment, it was later delayed.

Three years later, Ubisoft has provided a positive update on the remake, confirming that development is progressing smoothly.

Why it matters: This update has inspired some confidence among the fans who had begun to lose hope in the remake.

Celebrating 20 years of the heroic tale of the Sands of Time, Ubisoft has announced that the remake is far from forgotten.

According to the studio, Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake has reached an important internal milestone. However, what this milestone means for the fans remains to be confirmed.

Revealed back in 2020, the game was subject to various development hurdles. First, it faced a series of delays in 2021. The game was then shown with a disappointing trailer and later changed hands from Ubisoft Pune & Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal in June 2022.

In May, the developer also announced that Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake was in the conception phase.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft has introduced another 2D game in the series to keep fans busy while they wait for the remake. However, initial reactions to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown have not been pleasant.

Despite the promising update, the remake will require a few more years of work before it is ready. Apart from Prince of Persia, Ubisoft is working on remakes for Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed 4, introducing key story changes to the former.
