Uncharted Finally Coming Back!

Story Highlights
  • Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is the first game of the series.
  • A remake of this entry could be in the works from PlayStation.
  • This report comes from the insider who accurately leaked PlayStation’s latest State of Play.

Despite its dormant status, Uncharted remains one of PlayStation’s best exclusive IPs. Pioneering the style of narrative games that PlayStation is best known for today, this franchise has established itself as a highlight of PlayStation’s growth over the last two decades.

Bend Studio considered making Uncharted 5 in 2020, but the plan did not work out. There is also demand for a remake or new entry in the series, and a new report from a reliable insider claims that PlayStation is working to meet such demands.

Why it matters: Fans have already shown the demand for a remake so that Naughty Dog could benefit from this project.

This report comes from Nick Baker of Xbox Era. The leaker has had a great track record, recently revealing nearly every game showcased in PlayStation’s latest State of Play.

Therefore, this leak might prove to be accurate. The insider also revealed that Sony’s recent focus is on making more remakes, with a similar plan for the original God of War trilogy.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is where it all started. The game became an instant hit when it was released, and it was no wonder why. It featured great combat, incredible visuals, and a compelling story.

However, since it was the first game, it also has the most room for improvement. Naughty Dog had not landed on its trademark formula of action and narrative for Uncharted then, so a remake for this entry could make various improvements.

This remake could also serve as a means to bring more games from the series to PC. PlayStation previously remastered Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, followed by PC ports.

Therefore, similar treatment could await the other games in the trilogy.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune laid the foundation for future games. Its status as a pioneer is undeniable, and Naughty Dog certainly needs to create another game for this series. While the team might not create an original release, most fans will likely be pleased to experience more content, even if it is a remake.
