Despite Recent Silence, PlayStation Update Confirms Judas is Alive And Well

Story Highlight
  • After many months of radio silence, an update confirms Judas is still in development.
  • It still doesn’t have a release window, but that could change soon at TGA 2025.
  • The title was originally announced in 2022, with a release date of March 2025.

Judas is the next game from BioShock creator Ken Levine, being developed by Ghost Story Games. It takes heavy inspiration from Bioshock, and fans were really hyped when it was first announced back at TGA 2022.

Since then, we’ve had plenty of information on the title; however, the recent few months have been rather quiet, with a release date still not in sight. Some fans were worried, but a PlayStation post has confirmed Judas is alive and well.

Why it matters: When Judas was announced, we didn’t know if there would be another BioShock game or not. Additionally, the involvement of Ken Levine was a significant motivating factor for loyal fans of the franchise.

Judas Ken Levine
Judas by Ken Levine is alive and still in development

In a recent PlayStation update, Levine shared updates on Judas. He went into detail about the development and the protagonist. Although they still haven’t revealed a release date, fans will be relieved to hear more about the game.

The last we heard about Judas was 6-7 months ago, when it was revealed that it’s a strictly single-player game with no live service elements. The developers have also emphasized how the game will have instant reactions.

The game still doesn’t have a confirmed release window

So, if a player takes any action in the game, there will be instant reactions, instead of other games where small steps lead to bigger events later down the line. This makes the game different from BioShock.

It was originally set to be released in 2025, but was delayed, and is now expected in 2026, making it a solid lineup for Take-Two. With The Game Awards 2025 less than a week away, we might learn the release date soon.

Metroid Prime 4 Is One of The Worst-Rated Entries In The Series

Story Highlight
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond’s initial reviews are not as impressive as anticipated.
  • Compared to past releases, this is now one of the worst-rated entries of the series.
  • The game has been criticized for technical problems, linear gameplay, and more.

The Metroid franchise, like most of Nintendo’s releases, is known for its high-quality offerings. In fact, this series spawned an entire genre of games known as Metroidvanias.

Following the excellent Metroid Prime Remastered from 2023, the series has returned with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond this year. Amid a troubled development and plenty of doubts, however, it seems that the series’ latest entry has failed to meet expectations.

Why it matters: Many have been looking forward to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for nearly a decade at this point, making this result quite disappointing.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Metascore
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Metascore via Metacritic

Over on Metacritic, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has landed on a score of just 81/100 after 64 critic reviews. This score was initially lower than 80/100, but later reviews were more positive and helped the title regain lost ground. A few of the review scores are mentioned below:

  • LevelUp 95/100
  • Atomix 85/100
  • IGN 80/100
  • GamesRadar+ 70/100
  • Eurogamer 60/100

While an average of 81/100 is by no means bad, it pales in comparison to the usual offerings of the Metroid franchise.

In fact, looking at past mainline Metroid Prime titles, the latest release is a major step back in terms of critical reception since Metroid Prime 1,2, and 3 were rated 97, 92, and 90/100, respectively.

Going over the reviews, it seems Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is being criticized for its linearity, technical hiccups, and companion characters. Of course, these criticisms aren’t surprising for anybody familiar with the game’s development cycle.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was first announced nearly 10 years ago, and the game was also developed by a very different team than its predecessor. It seems these elements have impacted the overall quality of Metroid Prime’s latest offering.

Metroid Prime’s Return Is Not As Great As Expected

Still, many are hoping to judge the title after playing it for themselves. It will be interesting, then, to see how the title performs at release and whether the critical and player reception shows a major divide.

What do you think about the reviews so far? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Hyped Up About The New Steam Machine? Here’s Why You Might Want To Hold Your Horses

Story Highlight
  • Valve is having another go at the Steam Machine with a release expected in 2026 around a rumored MSRP of $700 for the 512 GB variant.
  • The ongoing RAM and NAND shortage will hinder Valve’s ability to launch the Steam Machine at a palatable price and then maintain said price through 2026.
  • Only 8GB of VRAM might not prove enough for 4K gaming at 60FPS in newer titles down the road.
  • A Steam-exclusive release could possibly limit the outreach of the Machine, subsequently impacting its sales figures.

Let’s be honest; my inner PC gamer did a little jig when Valve announced its new Steam Machine.

The idea of a sleek, living-room box from the folks behind Steam, promising serious power, felt like a dream.

It’s Valve swinging for the fences again, attempting a comeback in the console arena after their infamous 2015 flop. That earlier attempt, a confusing array of third-party PCs, vanished without a trace.

So, naturally, this new, unified vision has my attention. But before I max out my Steam Wallet in anticipation, I’ve got to hit the pause button.

After peeling back the glossy promises, I’m spotting a few reasons why we all might want to temper our excitement, at least until we have the full picture.

A Phoenix From The Ashes, But With Old Scars

First, we have to address the elephant in the room: history.

To begin with, the 2015 Steam Machines were a fragmented mess comprising dozens of models from different manufacturers, with wildly varying specs and prices, all running a then-unpolished SteamOS.

Understandably, consumers were baffled, and the line died a quiet death.

So, this new Machine isn’t just a product launch; it’s a redemption arc.

Valve is betting that a single, focused hardware spec, experience from years of Steam Deck optimization, and a matured SteamOS can rewrite that painful history.

It’s a compelling narrative, but past trauma has left me, and I suspect many others, inherently skeptical.

Specs And Promises: The 4K Dream Comes With An Asterisk

Now, let’s talk about what’s under the hood, because on paper, it sounds impressive.

Valve promises a system built around an AMD 6-core/12-thread Zen 4 CPU turbocharging up to 4.8 GHz with a TDP of 30W.

Moving on, the Steam Machine will feature a semi-custom AMD RDNA 3 GPU clocking in at a max sustained speed of 2.45 GHz along with 28 Compute Units and a TDP of 110W.

Moreover, Valve is touting the Machine as being six times more powerful than the beloved Steam Deck, with the ability to push 60 FPS in 4K. That’s the headline that gets my blood pumping.

However, and this is a big however, Valve quietly admits that hitting that 4K/60FPS target will require the use of AMD’s FSR upscaling technology.

AMD FSR 3.0
FSR can work wonders for cherry-picked titles. (Image Credits – AMD)

This isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker; both PlayStation and Xbox use similar techniques, but it’s a crucial clarification.

The VRAM Question And The Looming Shadow Of Cost

Digging deeper into the specs reveals another potential hiccup: memory. The Machine is configured with 16GB of fast DDR5 RAM for the system, but the GPU comes with only 8GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM.

For a box targeting 4K gameplay, even with artificial upscaling, 8GB of VRAM is already cutting it close.

We’re seeing newer titles, even today, comfortably exceed that buffer at high resolutions. While FSR will help, textures and assets still need to live somewhere.

This feels like a conservative choice that could limit the Machine’s future-proofing.

Speaking of future-proofing, here’s my single biggest concern: price. Valve has been conspicuously silent on this front, and for good reason.

We’re in the midst of a brutal component crisis. NAND flash memory (for SSDs) prices have skyrocketed, making that promised 2TB variant look particularly expensive.

Simultaneously, a global RAM shortage is driving the cost of DRAM through the roof, affecting everything from system memory to GPUs.

Valve isn’t just building a console; it’s building a moderately powerful PC in the worst possible market.

Hitting a competitive price point like $500 or $600 seems Herculean. My guess? The 2TB model will perilously near the $1,000 mark while recent analyses point towards a $700 MSRP for the 512GB variant.

A Promising Prospect, Shrouded in “Ifs”

Ultimately, my excitement is firmly tempered by reality.

The new Steam Machine is a bold, fascinating second attempt that solves many of the first generation’s mistakes.

It has smart ideas, especially around anti-scalping. Yet, the specter of cost, the conservative VRAM, and the challenging market conditions create a minefield Valve must expertly navigate.

I’m not saying “don’t buy it.” I’m saying let’s see the price tag first.

Let’s see the independent benchmarks. Let’s see if Valve has truly learned the hard lessons of the past.

My horses are firmly held, and for now, I recommend you hold yours too.

Job Listing Suggests Platinum’s Next Action Game Based On Unreal Engine 5

Story Highlight
  • A recent job listing we found hints that PlatinumGames is using Unreal Engine 5 for its next project.
  • The team has typically relied on its in-house technology for games like Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden 4.
  • Because so many studios have made the jump to Unreal Engine 5, PlatinumGames could be doing the same.

PlatinumGames has received a lot of praise recently. In addition to releasing Ninja Gaiden 4, the studio has worked with publishers like Konami, signalling a resurgence within the studio at the cusp of the action-games genre’s revival.

The team is also hiring developers for its future projects now. In fact, Tech4Gamers has found a job listing for an Environment Artist that suggests PlatinumGames is making the switch to Unreal Engine 5 for its next project.

Why it matters: PlatinumGames typically uses its own in-house technology when working on titles. Therefore, this shift would be a huge departure from the norms.

PlatinumGames Unreal Engine 5
PlatinumGames Could Be Making The Switch To Unreal Engine 5

In the “Necessary Skills and Experience” section of the job listing, PlatinumGames explicitly asks for experience with Unreal Engine 5. This requirement strongly suggests that the team will use this engine for the project.

Elsewhere, the job listing implies this project is aiming for “photorealistic graphics” since this is also one of the skills PlatinumGames is looking for in candidates.

Experience using Unreal Engine 5. Those with a strong interest in photorealistic graphics.

Both requirements are different from the team’s norms. The studio typically goes for more stylized visuals, as was the case with Ninja Gaiden 4. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, the team has relied on its own in-house engine for numerous years at this point.

Because so many studios, including the likes of CDPR, have recently made the switch to Unreal Engine 5, perhaps PlatinumGames is keen to give the engine a chance. The team is still not in the best position today, so the shift to this engine could signify an attempt at potential cost-cutting from the team.

Sam From Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Also Used Platinum’s Custom Engine

Interestingly, PlatinumGames was recently involved in an Unreal Engine 5 project. The studio worked on a small section of the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, which used the same engine.

As such, there is a possibility that the developer is hiring for work on a similar collaboration involving the technology. However, it would not be shocking if the studio switched to Epic Games’ engine altogether.

What do you think of Platinum potentially using Unreal Engine 5? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Mod Progressing Smoothly, Completes Most Successful Beta Test Yet

Story Highlight
  • The CyberMP multiplayer mod for Cyberpunk 2077 has just had the best and most stable closed beta test yet.
  • The mod is making good progress, getting players and vehicles to sync up smoothly across all screens.
  • The project has reached a new level and will receive even more extensive changes in the future.

Since Cyberpunk 2077’s tumultuous launch, it has become CDPR’s biggest revenue earner for five years straight. The IP also successfully expanded into the anime territory, but fans are still bummed out about the studio giving up on the multiplayer mode.

However, an extremely ambitious modding project, CyberMP, is in development by about 10 people. It aims to bring a full-fledged multiplayer experience to the game, including custom servers and lobbies, with activities like socialization, racing, and PvP.

A new development update now reveals that the mod is not only progressing smoothly but also has recently enjoyed the best and most stable closed beta yet.

Why it matters: CyberMP’s success in the latest closed beta test means it may launch sooner than anticipated. An effective multiplayer experience could bring back millions of new and veteran players to the game.

As explained by the developers on Discord, the closed beta test succeeded in getting players and vehicles to sync up seamlessly across all screens after an extensive rework for both systems. The overall vehicle experience also feels much smoother now.

we can confidently say this was the most stable and successful test in the project’s history.

Only a handful of game client crashes were recorded, fewer than the team expected. Many gameplay bugs have also already been squashed. The development progress is reaching a ‘new level,’ and more major changes are planned for the future.

Unfortunately, the team confirms there are no plans for co-op. There won’t be any quest synchronization across all players, so the campaign experience will remain single-player despite the multiplayer mod.

While there’s no launch date yet, all the indicators suggest that we may get a window in the near future. If successful, the mod could prove to be Cyberpunk 2077’s equivalent of GTA Online.

At the least, it will satiate the urge fans have for a multiplayer Cyberpunk experience.

Do you think the CyberMP multiplayer Cyberpunk 2077 mod will be successful for the general public? Are you willing to give it a try? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Live-Action Helldivers Movie Moving Forward In Production With Fast And Furious Director

Story Highlight
  • The live-action Helldivers movie is moving forward with popular Fast and Furious director Justin Lin.
  • Annabelle and It horror movie writer Gary Dauberman is serving as the scriptwriter for the adaptation.
  • The story will feature an elite unit of Helldivers who deal with various creatures to protect Super Earth.

Helldivers 2 has been one of the most thriving live-service IPs to launch in recent years, cementing PlayStation in the competitive genre. The title has continued to break milestones, but Sony wants to unleash more of its potential by bringing Helldivers to the big screen.

Hence, the publisher confirmed nearly a year ago that a live-action Helldivers movie was in development. A new report now confirms that the reimagining is being directed by Fast and Furious director Justin Lin.

Meanwhile, the Annabelle and It horror movie screenwriter, Gary Dauberman, will be responsible for the script.

Why it matters: The live-action Helldivers movie could turn out to be a staggering success under the talented director Justin Lin and screenwriter Gary Dauberman. However, not much about the story has yet been revealed.

Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 features a massive community due to its engaging gameplay.

The scoop comes from The Hollywood Reporter, implying that the movie is progressing smoothly despite there being no official updates after the original announcement.

The story revolves around an elite unit of Helldivers who will fend off various creatures threatening Super Earth. Justin wants to bring out the humanity in these characters, featuring timely themes and a built-out world. The worldbuilding will likely be faithful to Helldivers 2.

For those not in the know, Justin Lin is responsible for turning the Fast and Furious franchise into a multi-million dollar big-screen phenomenon during the 2010s.

Gary Dauberman is also a popular Hollywood scribe who is renowned for writing recent horror heavy-hitters, including the Until Dawn movie adaptation. Therefore, fans have incredibly high hopes for the Helldivers movie.

Helldivers 2 X Halo Crossover
The game has also had successful collaborations with other major IPs, like Halo.

We will likely find out about the rest of the cast in the near future, as the adaptation is likely years away at this point.

Do you think the live-action Helldivers movie adaptation will turn out well under the talented director and writer? Does a film make sense for the live-service IP in the first place? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

New PS5 Slim Model Upgrades To Cooling System Used In PS5 Pro, Disc Drive Online Requirement Also Removed

Story Highlight
  • The new PS5 Slim model CFI-2116 features a massively improved cooling system like the PS5 Pro.
  • It no longer has a metal leak or thermal degradation issues that affected older Slim CFI 2016 models.
  • The new Slim model allegedly also does not require an internet connection for pairing a disc drive.

The console landscape has been deeply affected by US tariffs and other issues, leading to multiple price hikes across the PS5 lineup over the years. However, Sony has also been working on hardware improvements for the PS5 Slim behind the scenes.

New reports reveal that the PS5 Slim CFI-2116 model currently on the market boasts an improved cooling system that matches what Sony implemented in its flagship PS5 Pro variant. The changes massively boost Slim’s cooling and overall longevity.

Why it matters: The enhanced cooling in the new PS5 Slim model CFI-2116 will allow gamers to push the little giant to new extremes without worrying about thermal degradation or metal leaks over time.

As reported by notable console technician Modyfikatorcasper on Twitter, the new PS5 Slim CFI-2116 model features the heatsink design from the PS5 Pro.

To clarify, the PS5 Pro’s cooling system features a heatsink with grooves that create a capillary effect, allowing liquid metal to spread evenly without leaking during assembly and throughout its lifespan. The new PS5 Slim model also leverages this approach.

Therefore, there are no further concerns about metal leaks, like in the older Slim CFI 2016 model.

On the flip side, the CFI-2116 model also does not require an internet connection for Blu-ray drive pairing. The disc drive is factory-paired now to prevent jailbreaking and other exploits in the future. This change has been widely celebrated in these threads by gamers.

The PS5 Slim Model CFI-2116 also apparently does not require an internet connection for the disc drive.

Unfortunately, the new PS5 Slim model comes with only 825GB of storage, down from 1 TB in previous models, which is a downgrade for many gamers.

Do you think the new PS5 Slim model will perform better and last much longer than previous models? Will the PS5 Pro cooling system make a huge difference? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

IO Interactive Confirms Hitman Series Will Continue Beyond The Trilogy

Story Highlight
  • IO Interactive has confirmed there will be a Hitman 4 despite other speculations.
  • The team is currently busy with co-op for Hitman 3, 007, and a new IP.
  • So, there will be another Hitman, but it isn’t expected to be announced soon.

IO Interactive is currently set to launch its new major game, 007: First Light, in March next year. Because the title is very reminiscent of its most popular franchise, some thought there wouldn’t be more Hitman games in the future.

However, IO has confirmed that the franchise will continue beyond the trilogy and there will be a Hitman 4. They are also looking to expand the existing game and want to continue doing that moving forward.

Why it matters: Hitman games are the studio’s most popular titles, and they’ve also been really well-received over the years, so it makes sense to continue the franchise instead of leaving it in the dust.

Hitman 3 Featured
The Hitman series will continue beyond the last game

Speaking to Variety, CEO Hakan Abrak talked about the Hitman franchise and the studio’s upcoming projects. He confirmed that there will be a Hitman 4, but it might not launch soon, as currently they are busy with other work.

But we will, after that (Co-Op), be talking about the next ‘Hitman’ — because, of course, there’s going to be a next Hitman.

– Hakan Abrak

However, for those wanting more of the popular stealth games, IO Interactive is already working on a co-op mode for the existing game, and they plan to introduce new gameplay elements and mechanics with it.

The studio is set to release 007: First Light in March

The studio also commented on how it is proud of all the work it has ever done on the series, and how it has helped them prepare for 007. In addition, they’re also working on a new IP, Project Fantasy.

Nonetheless, it is great news for the fans of the franchise as it is planned to continue down the line. For now, 007 will be a treat for those who love similar games, as it takes a lot of inspiration from Hitman.

CDPR Confirms The Witcher 4 Is Not Releasing In 2026

Story Highlight
  • CDPR CEO has confirmed that The Witcher 4 won’t release in 2026.
  • Michał Nowakowski declined to release any new information about the title’s release but said production is moving according to plan.
  • In addition, the joint CEO emphasized that the trilogy will be released over the next 6 years.

So far, CDPR has been rather tight-lipped about when The Witcher 4 will launch. The Polish developer has been recruiting a lot of new talent to work on the project, including developers from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

But, as of yet, fans don’t even have a real glimpse of what boundaries CD Projekt Red is crossing for the sequel. Now, if the studio’s earnings call is anything to go by, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what it’s making.

Why it matters: CDPR taking its time with The Witcher 4 is not a bad idea if it can use UE5 tech to deliver the whole trilogy in 6 years.

The Witcher 4 Ciri
The Witcher 4 is not releasing next year.

CD Projekt Red CEO Michał Nowakowski confirmed in a Q3 earnings call that The Witcher 4 will not release in 2026. The joint CEO explained that the game is in full production, but he can’t disclose any details about its launch window at this time.

The only thing we’re commenting is that we’re not launching in 2026, and we’re also not typically getting into any specifics regarding technical or design matters.

In addition, the CDPR head also declined to comment on the technical aspects of the game’s development, saying The Witcher 4 is being developed at a normal pace and according to plans, with nothing being out of the ordinary.

Nowakowski emphasized that CD Projekt Red still plans to release the entire new trilogy in the span of just 6 years. Hence, The Witcher 5 and the last game in the trilogy will have a much shorter development cycle if things go according to the studio’s planning.

No matter when CDPR launches The Witcher 4, hype for the game is expected to stay thanks to the developer teasing giant technical leaps enabled by Unreal Engine 5, which will also benefit other developers.

The Witcher 4 Tech Demo
The Witcher 4’s use of UE5 will benefit the entire industry, according to CDPR.

With some of the industry’s best talent working on the project and CDPR giving players more freedom than ever before, The Witcher 4 is set to be one of the most exciting sequels of all time.

When do you think CDPR will release The Witcher 4? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Team Fortress 2 Is Getting A Source 2 Engine Upgrade Like CS2, Reliable Insider Claims

Story Highlight
  • A reliable insider reports that a new datamine reveals that Team Fortress 2 is being ported to the Source 2 engine.
  • The popular shooter is either getting a remaster like CS2 or a sequel that may launch after a few years.
  • Valve is also allegedly working on Half-Life 3, which multiple insiders have claimed will be announced soon.

Apart from announcing a new line of hardware, it’s clear that Valve has also been working on a new Half-Life project over the years. Multiple insiders previously reported that it will be revealed soon, but the publisher seems to be prepping another huge title behind the scenes.

Past datamined leaks unveiled that Valve was allegedly developing a new Team Fortress. Now, new datamined evidence reported by prolific insider Tyler McVickel cements that a separate team at Valve is working on porting Team Fortress 2 to the Source 2 engine.

Why it matters: Team Fortress 2 still boasts thousands of players daily despite a lack of meaningful updates and attention from Valve. A new remaster like CS2 or a full-blown sequel could fully revitalize the popular franchise in the future.

As explained in a YouTube video, a new datamine on October 14 received lines of code about Source 1 import strings, which are used to transfer elements from Source 1 to the new Source 2 engine.

The leak included a mechanic found in Team Fortress 2 being ported over to the Source 2 engine, displayed as ‘func_respawnroomvisualizer.’

Similar strings have been called Project TF in datamined past leaks, but Tyler argues that the new leak seemingly confirms that TF refers to Team Fortress. The leak shows Valve porting Team Fortress 2 maps to the new Source 2 engine.

this is effectively direct confirmation that yes, there’s a team at Valve that is for some reason working on porting Team Fortress 2 into Source 2.

-Tyler McVicker, Valve insider.

Valve is using these multiplayer-related entities exclusive to Team Fortress 2, suggesting that it is either working on a CS2-like remaster for TF2 or a full-on sequel.

Team Fortress 2 continues to see a dedicated player base to this day.

A Team Fortress 2 remaster makes the most sense since Valve is also working on Deadlock and the rumored Half-Life 3 at the same time. However, Tyler mentions taking these datamines with a grain of salt until official confirmation.

Do you think Team Fortress 2 will get a full remaster or a sequel in the near future, or will this project take as long as CS2 did? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

CDPR Is Teasing More New Content For Cyberpunk 2077 On 5th Anniversary

Story Highlight
  • Cyberpunk 2077 could receive new content on its 5th anniversary on December 10.
  • CD Projekt Red dropped a cryptic Tweet announcing the game and other characters’ birthdays.
  • Even five years after the launch, the studio continues to support the RPG.

When Cyberpunk 2077 was first released five years ago, no one could have anticipated how successful it would be. The RPG was plagued with bugs and optimization issues, making it unplayable at that time, but the studio pulled off a miracle.

CDPR recently confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 35 million copies and is now its main source of income. So, naturally, they are still investing in it as they’ve teased more new content on its 5th anniversary.

Why it matters: Initially, the studio said it was done with the game after the Phantom Liberty DLC. Still, it has since been so successful that they’ve continued to support it despite the sequel already in development.

Cyberpunk 5th Birthday
CDPR has dropped a cryptic Tweet hinting at new content for Cyberpunk 2077

The studio posted on X to mark the game’s 5th birthday, along with the birthdays of 2 other characters from the DLC, Solomon Reed, and So Mi Song. At a glance, it looks like a simple message, but CDPR teases new content cryptically

Fans are convinced that Reed and Songbird’s birthdays represent something coming with a future update. Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 35 million copies faster than The Witcher 3, so this is a big moment for the game.

Cyberpunk 2077
The game is now CDPR’s primary source of income.

We can’t really say for sure what the update will bring, but a full-fledged DLC is obviously unlikely. However, there could be new, minor quests involving both the mentioned characters, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Nonetheless, it is great to see that CDPR is continuing to give Cyberpunk 2077 the love it deserves. It now stands in the elite category of RPGs, and the expectations from the sequel are already skyrocketing.

Resident Evil Requiem Breaks Into Steam’s Top 5 Most-Wishlisted Games

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil Requiem is now the fourth most-wishlisted game on Steam, with strong fan excitement despite no confirmation about Leon’s appearance.
  • The game is set for release on 27 Feb 2026, so it may climb the ladder to become the most wishlisted title.
  • Despite Leon’s appearance not being confirmed, the fandom is still extremely excited, thanks to the publisher’s strong and effective marketing.

Resident Evil 9, also known as Requiem, was finally announced during Summer Game Fest 2025. The game took everyone by surprise, but one mystery has yet to be answered: Will Leon be in the game? The answer is still unknown, but it seems like the fandom is really digging into this mystery.

The game has now reached the top 5 most-wishlisted titles on Steam. Resident Evil Requiem is currently in the fourth spot, sitting just behind Subnautica 2, Deadlock, and Light No Fire.

Why it matters: Capcom has not confirmed whether Leon will be in the game. Despite that, the fandom is quite excited about the upcoming Resident Evil title, with many fans certain their favorite character will make an appearance.

On Steam’s most wishlisted tab, Resident Evil Requiem can be seen in the fourth spot. In fifth place, we have Kingmakers, which is a highly anticipated medieval strategy shooter.

There is still quite a lot of time left before the release of the upcoming Resident Evil title, so it is expected that the game could reach the top spot shortly. The game is set to release on 27 February 2026.

Different insiders have claimed that Leon is indeed in the game. However, Capcom has not revealed even a hint about him being involved. He also is not the main character this time, as Capcom has already confirmed Grace as the main lead.

Resident Evil Requiem
The upcoming Resident Evil will be closer to RE2 in tone than RE4.

The game will also feature a true horror experience, to the point where it will include a third-person mode to tone down the intensity.

That said, what are your thoughts on it reaching the top 5 most-wishlisted titles on Steam? Are you excited? Share what you think below in the comment section or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers official forums.
