Announcement Expected Soon!

Story Highlight
  • A dataminer has made a video highlighting recent updates made to Half Life 3 on the backend.
  • This has been one of the biggest updates for the game, with Valve approaching the final stages of development.
  • New mechanics have been spotted, and the game is shown to be optimized.

Rumors of a new Half Life game have been circulating for at least a decade now, but in recent times, reports have been suggesting that the threequel is quite close to completion.

Now, a dataminer has unveiled new details regarding the project. He discovered quite a bit of progress made on Half Life 3, which will feature several new mechanics, and Valve seems to be making significant progress on the game’s optimization.

Why it matters: Half Life 3 rumors have been circulating for years now. However, this datamine seems pretty accurate, and Valve can announce the game soon enough, putting an end to the fandom’s skepticism.

The dataminer compiled all the Half Life 3 backend updates following the latest Counter-Strike 2 update. A massive amount of progress on project HLX has been made recently.

The game’s vehicle system has been expanded tremendously, with the addition of a brand-new particle system tailor-made for the game. Additionally, Half Life 3 will also implement a ‘Friction’ system that will specify the outcome in case a part of an enemy is destroyed.

However, the biggest development progression by far is Valve’s work on the game’s optimization. By looking at the Preforce Activity, a software used for user activity monitoring, the YouTuber noticed that load times were being recorded in the system’s log.

Moreover, a lot of files have also been cleaned up, suggesting that Valve is almost done with the game and working on the final stages. The YouTuber speculates that the game will release in almost a year from now.

Half Life 3 May Feature A Semi-Open World

Just recently, Valve’s Steam Page was updated, suggesting that Half Life 3 was to be announced soon. Moreover, the G-Man voice actor has also teased some news for 2025 surrounding the franchise.

While the major season of Summer Showcase is behind us, there is still some hope for an announcement. The Game Awards show does feature a few reveals, so one can only hope for a Half Life 3 announcement then.
