Why it matters: The GTA 6 trailer was surprisingly leaked way ahead of its official reveal, prompting Rockstar to release the trailer forcefully. However, this leak had little impact on the viewership of the trailer.

Rockstar Games’ efforts to reveal GTA 6 faced challenges with leaks and unofficial releases. A hacker revealed a lot of unfinished development material last year, with 90 videos exposed. Then, a developer’s child recently leaked a potential gameplay video.

However, Rockstar urges fans to be patient with leaks and directs them to official YouTube content. At the time of reporting, the GTA 6 trailer got an incredible 100 million views and 9 million likes in just over 24 hours.

This makes it the biggest gaming video on the platform and one of the fastest-growing videos of all time. Everyone is wondering if it can beat BTS’ Dynamite, which hit 101 million views in the first 24 hours.

The gaming community is certainly excited to see if GTA 6 can break this big record. Apart from YouTube, the studio has boasted similar records on Twitter, making new gaming records with the recent announcements.

Following the ten-year wait for this Grand Theft Auto release, fans have been on edge for the game. Set to Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road,” the first trailer reveals beaches and late-night parties, introducing Lucia, the series’ first female protagonist.

The trailer gives us a sneak peek into Lucia’s world, focusing on her planning a daring heist with her partner. Her imprisonment, blamed on “bad luck,” sets the stage for a fascinating story that will captivate players in the unique Grand Theft Auto style.

An analyst predicts that the game is expected to sell 25 million copies and generate $1 billion at launch. With GTA 5 selling over 190 million copies, GTA 6 is expected to smash all the company’s previous sales records.

The game is set to launch in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and fans can’t wait. Unfortunately, the game’s PC release will be delayed by at least one year, disappointing many PC gamers.
