- Reports suggest Rockstar Games is currently not ready to publicly discuss GTA 6 Online.
- It is said that GTA 6 will be marketed around its single-player experience.
- Rockstar Games is likely preparing a completely separate marketing campaign for the online mode.
Rockstar Games has confirmed the first big look at GTA 6 in a year for later this month. Fans can also expect plenty of other details regarding the game in the days to follow, but those looking for information on GTA Online should keep their expectations in check.
Reports suggest the team isn’t ready to discuss this part of the title for now.
Why it matters: GTA 5’s online component has pushed the game to unprecedented heights, making billions for Take-Two and Rockstar Games over the last 13 years or so. The next iteration of this mode is expected to be just as successful a follow-up, with Take-Two even hinting at insane pre-order figures for GTA 6.
As per insider Jason Schreier, Rockstar Games is not expected to talk publicly about the online side of GTA 6 anytime soon. For now, the gaming giant intends to push GTA 6 as a single-player experience rather than a release with both a story mode and a robust online component.
Schreier also suggests that as part of the single-player experience, the studio is staying true to the theme of non-recurring spending on the game. This means that GTA 6 likely won’t feature microtransactions, with this source of revenue reserved for the online part of the game.
Take-Two is only talking about GTA 6 in terms of single-player. They are not planning to talk anytime soon about what the new GTA Online will look like.
Of course, fans of GTA Online will eventually get to see the next iteration of GTA 5’s online gameplay. However, Rockstar Games probably has dedicated marketing plans for this part of the blockbuster release since it will almost serve as an entirely different game.

While a glimpse at GTA Online’s successor might be far away for now, fans can look forward to the exclusive Netflix premiere for Grand Theft Auto’s next iteration in August. Many have even subscribed to Netflix for this preview alone.
