GTA 6 Likely Made Revenue Worth 1 Million Sales From Netflix Alone!

Story Highlight
  • GTA 6 will receive a first look on August 27, exclusive to Netflix for a few hours.
  • A popular insider estimates Netflix paid Rockstar nearly $100 million for exclusive GTA 6 footage.
  • This would mean that the game has made money worth 1 million unit sales already.

Rockstar Games is set to offer a detailed look at GTA 6 gameplay later this month, but the footage will be available exclusively on Netflix for a few hours.

This decision has also led to backlash, but an estimate suggests it was likely worth it for Rockstar Games and Take-Two at the end of the day. It is said that GTA 6 may have made nearly $100 million from this exclusivity deal alone.

Why it matters: The upcoming Grand Theft Auto entry is expected to break all sorts of records in the industry, and looking at the recent estimates, it seems these expectations aren’t too far from reality.

Netflix Paid A Hefty Sum For Exclusive GTA 6 Marketing

Popular insider Tom Henderson estimates that GTA 6 revenue has now exceeded the equivalent of more than a million sales. As per the insider, this is because Netflix likely paid Rockstar Games a hefty sum for exclusive GTA 6 footage.

Given the fact that GTA 6 starts at $80, the insider’s estimate would suggest that the game has made $80 million in revenue from this deal alone. Note that Netflix’s deal likely involved a direct paycheck instead of the typical revenue share Rockstar Games would have received from actual unit sales.

The insider makes the point that Take-Two would not have agreed to this deal without a huge sum of money. Therefore, it is possible that the deal may have even exceeded $100 million just for a few hours of exclusive GTA 6 footage.

Gameplay From Rockstar Games Is Coming Soon

Of course, the title’s pre-orders themselves have likely made a lot of money at this point. However, according to Strauss Zelnick, the company won’t reveal exact figures or details until it can talk about confirmed sales after the pre-order period.
