Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two, just released its financial report, and it’s clear that GTA 6 will be a huge success. They’ve confirmed a staggering number of pre-orders, and the boss talked about the game’s pricing.

The studio announced that its upcoming flagship title would cost $80, becoming the first major release at this price. Take-Two’s boss says they believe that they got the pricing right, based on the pre-order numbers

Why it matters: The company has recorded results beyond its forecasts and expects them to grow even further with the GTA 6 release. While they haven’t disclosed a number, the pre-orders are said to be extremely high.

Take-Two boss says they got the pricing right for GTA 6

During the investor call, Strauss Zelnick talked about the controversial $80 price tag. He said that he thinks they got the price right for GTA 6, as the pre-orders are staggering and much higher than expectations.

I think that Rockstar got it right in terms of the pricing of this standard edition and the pricing of the deluxe edition, and I think there’s no doubt that consumers are really excited about both.

Despite no specific numbers, Take-Two confirms staggering pre-orders for the title

Despite Rockstar’s title being the first in the wider market, Nintendo was the one who debuted the $80 price tag with Mario Kart World. However, as the market leader, GTA’s impact is much higher, and others will follow.

Anyhow, Rockstar is set to reveal the detailed gameplay on August 27, exclusively on Netflix. This will indeed create even more hype, especially now that they’ve reiterated that there won’t be any more delays.
