  • CEO Strauss Zelnick says stronger cash generation could create opportunities for acquisitions and further investment.

Take-Two Interactive is preparing for what could be the biggest launch in its history, with GTA 6 expected to break records and significantly improve the publisher’s financial position.

In a recent letter to investors, CEO Strauss Zelnick also outlined expectations for more than $1 billion in adjusted unrestricted operating cash flow during fiscal 2027.

Why it matters: This forecast is yet another indication of how big Take-Two expects GTA 6 to be later this year.

GTA 6
GTA 6 is selling well on all platforms.

According to the company’s investor letter, Take-Two expects to establish a new financial baseline following GTA 6’s release.

GTA 6 is expected to be a billion-dollar release, and Zelnick also suggested that positive cash flow could open additional opportunities for Take-Two. One possible use of this cash flow could be future acquisitions by the publisher.

Take-Two already owns multiple high-profile studios, so another acquisition could further strengthen the gaming giant’s position in the industry. Moreover, this forecast highlights the enormous commercial expectations surrounding Rockstar’s next open-world game.

GTA 6 is almost guaranteed to be a major hit despite being positioned as an $80 title. Pre-orders for the game are also said to be going strong already, even if they have yet to hit the $1 billion milestone.

GTA 6
GTA 6 will certainly be huge.

Ultimately, Take-Two seems to be preparing for what will almost certainly be the industry’s biggest launch of all time. To prepare for a release of this scale, the gaming giant has revised its financial targets.
