Gears of War: E-Day is the next big Xbox first-party release, and it will mark the return of the gaming giant’s focus on exclusivity. The game officially launches on October 16, and ahead of this release date, it appears to have made it into the Steam top 10 best-sellers list.
Why it matters: Gears of War: E-Day seems to be a return to form for the franchise so far, so the game showing early signs of popularity on PC will likely please Xbox and The Coalition.
According to SteamDB’s global best-sellers list, Gears of War: E-Day is currently the 10th best-selling title on Steam. Excluding free-to-play titles and the Steam Machine, the Gears of War prequel is the 6th best-selling game on the platform.
The game appears to have risen in popularity due to the ongoing multiplayer open beta on PC. For context, the beta runs between August 13 and 17, but the early access period has already gone live.
Many players appear to be quite positive about the game following hands-on time with the open beta. As such, it seems Xbox’s upcoming first-party title is showing early signs of a strong PC release.
Interestingly, the Gears of War: E-Day open beta has also surpassed the series’ all-time high player count on Steam already, with nearly 15,000 concurrent players active in early access.
