Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Met With “Mixed Reviews” On Steam At Launch

Game Has Performance Issues And Is Unplayable On Linux Hardware!

Story Highlight
  • Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launched to Mixed reviews on Steam.
  • Player criticism is focused mainly on PC performance, technical issues, and lack of Linux support.
  • The game also doesn’t have any critic reviews at the moment due to a lack of review copies.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls already created concerns among PC gamers when it was confirmed to be unplayable in many countries due to a mandatory PSN requirement.

The game’s latest beta on the platform did little to ease concerns, and to little surprise, the full release hasn’t been met with the most praise so far. In fact, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls now stands at “Mixed reviews” on Steam.

Why it matters: The Marvel fighting game has created a lot of hype, especially due to the existing Marvel fandom within the fighting game community and Arc System Works’ involvement in the project.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has been met with a rougher-than-expected reception on Steam, as early player reviews have now led to a “Mixed” rating at launch. Of the nearly 1500 reviews on the platform, more than half are currently negative.

According to the reviews, the game currently suffers from poor performance and various technical problems on the PC platform. Another major point of contention is the fact that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is currently unplayable on Linux devices.

This means that the game cannot be played at all on the $1,000+ Steam Machine. Reviews mention that Arc System Works’ past games like Dragon Ball FighterZ were still playable on Linux despite using Easy Anti Cheat, adding further to the disappointment.

More general criticisms related to input delay can also be seen on Steam at the moment. Also, it’s worth noting that the game seemingly has no critic reviews out at the moment due to a lack of pre-launch review copies.

Because the game is published by PlayStation, many are currently blaming Sony and PlayStation for the dire state of the PC port. At this point in time, the PS5 version appears to be the best way to play Arc System Works’ latest fighting game.
