- Nintendo says Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake demand has exceeded expectations by a huge margin.
- A Switch 2 anniversary restock is now planned after stronger-than-expected interest.
- The response suggests Nintendo may have underestimated just how much pull Ocarina of Time still has
Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake launches later next month, becoming the only game to challenge GTA 6 in 2026. So far, results show that the game is outselling GTA 6 in some areas, and even Nintendo appears to be shocked by the demand for the title.
Why it matters: Zelda: Ocarina of Time remains one of gaming’s best-rated titles to this day, so its remake is expected to be a huge success for Nintendo.
Bill van Zyll, VP and general manager for Nintendo in Latin America, recently dubbed Ocarina of Time Remake a global phenomenon. He acknowledged that demand for the Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is much higher than expected, with a Switch 2 anniversary restock now on the way.
The general manager pointed out that the game is performing extremely well in markets like the United States. Similarly, the remake appears to be running out of stock in countries like Brazil.
Bill van Zyll explained that Nintendo is currently working on restocking the title as quickly as possible, urging fans to remain patient.
We underestimated how well it would be received. We are working on replenishments of the special hardware and the software.

Given how well many other Nintendo titles have performed in the past, it will be interesting to see how Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake holds up. The title could even lead to a huge surge in Nintendo Switch 2 sales next month.
