GTA 6 Is Too Cheap at $80, Would’ve Sold Well Even at $200, Says Analyst

Would You Have Spent $200 on GTA 6?

Story Highlight
  • An analyst states that Rockstar selling GTA 6 at just $80 is too cheap for the game.
  • They spent a lot of resources on it, and it’s the pinnacle of AAA game craftsmanship.
  • The game should’ve cost $200, and it would’ve even sold well at that price.

GTA 6 is set to launch in less than 4 months now, and the hype is real. One of the biggest debates around the title is its price. It became the first mainstream title to be priced at $80 and could be the one to kick off the new price for AAA titles.

However, an analyst has stated that Rockstar selling GTA 6 at $80 is just too cheap, and the game would even sell well if it were priced at $200. The game is humongous in scale, but $200 just seems too much.

Why it matters: This is a hot take by the analyst, and despite all the budget and resources put into the title by Rockstar, spending this amount of money is a tad bit too excessive and out of reach for the general public.

Analyst Ben Thompson talked about the GTA 6 pricing, claiming that Rockstar is charging too little for the title at $80. They should be charging $200, as it’s going to be the last great game before AI takes over development.

I feel compelled to buy GTA 6, just in honor of it existing. Even if I don’t know if I’m ever going to play it. I’d be happy to pay $200. $80 is ridiculous. They should charge more.

Analyst believes that at $80, Rockstar is selling GTA 6 just too cheap

He continued that the title was fully built before AI took over, and it’s the pinnacle of AAA craftsmanship. Rockstar has invested a lot of money, resources, blood, and sweat into the game, so $200 would’ve been worth it.

Now, yes, GTA 6 will most likely be a generational game, but most will not be willing to spend this kind of money. After all, despite all the investments, Rockstar might have even made back the game’s budget in pre-sales alone
