Ghost of Tsushima Already 6th Best-Seller on Steam Right After Reveal

Already Selling Better Than Horizon Forbidden West!

Story Highlight
  • Ghost of Tsushima was revealed for PC yesterday and will be available to play on 16th May.
  • Right after the announcement, it became the 6th best-selling game on Steam.
  • The game is already outselling Horizon Forbidden West, which is coming later this month.

It is fair to say that Ghost Tsushima was the most anticipated PC port from PlayStation, except Bloodborne. This game is quickly approaching its fourth anniversary, and Sony confirmed the grand arrival of its PC port yesterday.

It will be released on 16th May 2024, and the Steam page is already up. To no one’s surprise, right after pre-orders went up, the game took the 6th best-selling spot on Steam.

Why it matters: Games typically climb the Steam charts a week or two before release, but PlayStation’s PC port is still over two months away.

As shown in the image above, Ghost of Tsushima is at the 6th spot. What makes this so interesting is the fact that the PC port has even left Horizon Forbidden West behind, which is nowhere to be seen in the top 10 despite its March release.

We have excluded Steam Deck from this comparison since it isn’t a game and should be given a separate category. Free-to-play titles are also excluded, but Ghost of Tsushima has already come close to highly anticipated releases like Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Capcom’s RPG has made incredible progress of its own, but PlayStation’s announcement has nearly eclipsed this anticipation already. PC fans have been waiting for a long time for this game, so it is likely to break a few records on Steam come release day.

To reach this spot, the port has already beaten new releases like WWE 2K24. Furthermore, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring have been left behind. The latter went through a resurgence recently, owing to the reveal of Shadow of the Erdtree.

Ghost of Tsushima has sold nearly 10 million copies on PlayStation consoles. While this number is massive, it has been nearly four years since the game was released.

The fact that PC gamers are so excited about a four-year-old game speaks volumes about its quality. More ports are also expected to follow, with a leaker hinting at The Last of Us Part 2.

Meanwhile, Sony may be gearing up for a Ghost of Tsushima 2 reveal this year for the PlayStation Showcase. Overall, there has never been a better time to be a fan of this IP and PC gaming.
