Will Scalebound Ever Come Back?

Story Highlight
  • Hideki Kamiya is pushing for Scalebound to return yet again.
  • He hopes that Xbox CEO Asha Sharma will watch gameplay and consider this request.
  • The developer still has faith that Scalebound can come back like Okami did.

Among the many games Xbox has cancelled over the years, Scalebound remains particularly memorable, mainly due to how much potential it had. Despite its cancellation, the project has yet to be forgotten, and even Hideki Kamiya remains interested in bringing it back.

Why it matters: The former PlatinumGames boss has mentioned Scalebound on multiple occasions, asking Xbox to give the IP another chance.

Scalebound refuses to disappear from gaming conversations, and Hideki Kamiya is a big reason why. In an interview with VGC, Kamiya called on Asha Sharma to revive the cancelled action game.

He noted that Clover’s President Kento Koyama, who is currently working on the Okami sequel, is also on board with the idea. In fact, the former PlatinumGames developer even suggested including some footage of the game for Asha Sharma to see.

If they want to do it, let’s make it happen.

Later in the interview, the game designer noted that working on Scalebound was quite fun and challenging.

He also drew comparisons between Okami and Scalebound, stating that the former returned due to the team’s desire to work on the series again. Hideki Kamiya hopes something similar can be worked out for Scalebound.

Scalebound Was Way Too Ambitious For Its Time

Because Asha Sharma’s vision emphasizes exclusives for Xbox at the moment, a Scalebound revival might just end up happening at some point. Many fans also want to see the IP come back, so there is a lot of potential there.
