I’m starting up by recommending the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32 GB DDR5 RAM kit, as this memory kit fits the overall tag. Simply because it tries to deliver on all fronts, be it aesthetics, performance, or the value factor. First and foremost, the memory kit comes with solid specs on paper, which are 6400 MT/s frequency coupled with CL timing of CL30-39-39-102 running at 1.40V by default. In our testing, we witnessed the RAM achieving 84,192 MB/s in the AIDA64 Engineer memory benchmark – rendering it a highly competitive kit.
The memory exhibited no problem in running either of the Intel XMP or AMD EXPO profiles. We chose the AMD EXPO during our test sessions to achieve the 6400 MT/s frequency with a low latency of 9.375 ns. Anyhow, as far as other things go, like the aesthetics, we liked the matte black combo with a brushed aluminum finish in the middle part of the heat spreader. Moreover, the RGB on the top also lit up beautifully. Now, considering all those, the memory kit is a decent overall option at $119.
The memory kit impressed us very well and this is what we said about it at the end of our review:
The G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB follows the classic design of this lineup to bring us another high-performance kit. With an EXPO speed of DDR5-6400 at CL30, the memory runs at an ultra-low latency of 9.375 and shows excellent performance in our benchmarks. Its price is $119, which is not much higher than you’ll find a DDR5-6000 CL30 kit for, and G. Skill offers a limited lifetime warranty for the kit. All in all, it’s a great choice for a Ryzen 9000 CPU that can run this kit at 1:1 with the memory controller.

Up next, in case the 32 GB just isn’t meeting your workload requirements, then the best 64 GB kit we would recommend is the G.Skill Trident Z Royal Neo 64 GB DDR5 kit. The memory kit features a 6000 MT/s rated frequency with CL timings of CL26. Not to mention, the latency it offers is just 8.66ns – making it the memory kit with one of the lowest latency out of the box. During our review session, the Trident Z Royal Neo managed to average 87,404 MB/s writes in the AIDA64 Engineer Memory benchmark.
Do note, though, that this was done with stock AMD EXPO and not with tuned settings. In case, you want to overclock it, you can easily achieve a 200 MT/s to 400 MT/s boost via EXPO without much problem. Similarly, if we look at other aspects of the memory, we get rather premium-looking heatsinks that come in gold and silver color schemes. Moreover, the crystalline RGB bar on top is yet another way of differentiating this kit from the rest. However, the 44mm height might create issues with some dual-tower air coolers, so there’s that.
The memory kit definitely impressed me and my team and this is what we thought of the RAM:
The G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal Neo 64GB 6000MHz CL26 is G.Skill’s latest 64GB addition to its “Royal Neo” series. The kit follows the same design pattern we saw in the other kits, featuring a mirror-finished silver or gold heat spreader with a beautiful crystalline light bar on top. The kit has an ultra-low latency of only 8.66ns and beats most RAM kits by only enabling its default EXPO settings.

Important RAM Terms To Look Out For
- EXPO: This is AMD’s answer to Intel’s XMP OC profile settings. You can overclock your memory with the available pre-configured memory profiles to get optimal performance via higher speed and lower latency without manually doing anything.
- DIMM Slots: The vertical slots parallel to the CPU socket are the DIMM slots that accommodate the memory modules. Mostly the budget boards come with only two of the DIMM slots while slightly expensive ones get to have four of them. Moreover, DIMM slots on different motherboards support memory modules of different speeds.
- Frequency: The frequency means the speed and a memory kit’s frequency means how fast it shares the data with the processor. The higher the frequency of the memory kit, the faster the processor receives the data, though, the CAS latency needs to be equally tighter.
- CAS Latency: In layman’s terms, CAS latency means the time taken by the memory kit to deliver the required data to the processor. Also, CAS latency stands for Column Address Strobe latency, and it also goes by CL timings. Moreover, the latency of a kit can also be calculated in nanoseconds via our RAM latency calculator.
- Heatsink: The aluminum plates you see on the memory kits today are called heatsinks and are there to keep the memory kits cool. These come in handy when you’re planning to overclock the memory kit. Additionally, they also provide aesthetics as they come in various designs and with RGB LED integration.
- Voltage: It means how much power the memory kit consumes and is often mentioned over the heat spreader. The less the memory kit consumes power, the more efficient it is, though lowering too much power means low performance as well.
How We Tested The Best RAM For Ryzen 9 9000X3D CPUs
We take strict measures before adding any of the memory kits to the list of our articles. For example, we look at its performance, design, OC potential, and value for money factor to take out the best for our list from the bunch. Here are the factors explained in detail:
- Performance: Firstly, we check the performance of the memory kit by putting it to test. We pair it with the respective CPU and set the default speed settings. After that, we run tests using AIDA64 Engineer, Cinebench R23/2024, as well as some gaming titles to check their stability and overall performance.
- Overclocking Potential: The next thing we check about the memory kit is its overclocking capabilities, a good memory should show decent overclocking potential as they are primarily made to be high-performance gaming kits. Now, you can choose from the default Intel XMP or AMD EXPO’s pre-configured settings, or if you know your way around the manual overclocking, you can also overclock it manually. And we check the kits both ways to be certain.
- Value For Money: Regardless of the budget for your memory kit, it’s essential to choose a component that provides the best value for your money. There are many options available that perform poorly and cost a fortune which only makes your wallet empty without offering valuable returns. So we choose only those kits that fit this criteria.
- Design: Sure this is more of a personal choice category as everyone seems to like different stuff. So, to make things easier, we tend to focus on including memory kits that have different designs and do not look the same. This ensures that we help the majority and not only a handful of people.
FAQs
Usually, the 32 GB memory capacity is the ideal choice nowadays, as it is good enough to handle all the gaming load as well as most of the productivity workload as well. However, you need more if your productivity workload is quite high.
These are pre-configured memory settings that run the memory kits at higher than the default 5600 MT/s speed. You can choose Intel XMP or AMD EXPO depending upon whichever works best with your RAM kit.
