Alan Wake 2: Only 2 of Top 10 Steam GPUs Will Achieve 1080p 60FPS

Even The RTX 3070 Will Struggle With 1080p 60FPS!

Alan Wake 2 has shocked the PC gaming community after Remedy revealed hefty system requirements.

The developer confirms graphic cards like the GeForce RTX 2060 will struggle to achieve 30FPS at 1080p, leading to disappointment among users with weaker graphics cards. Additionally, older hardware without mesh shaders is unsupported.

Looking at the Steam survey, these requirements mean that most of the popular GPUs will be unable to provide a 1080p 60FPS experience in Alan Wake 2.

Why it matters: Though many recent releases have asked for incredibly powerful PC hardware, Alan Wake 2 appears to be the most demanding game in recent months.

According to the requirements, graphics cards like the GeForce RTX 2060 are unable to reach 60FPS at 1080p. Therefore, everything below this level of performance is ruled out.

Older hardware like the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti lacks mesh shader support, so anything older than a few years will also not be supported. This leaves us with just a few options among the top 10 graphics cards.

One such option is the GeForce RTX 3070, which Remedy recommends for 1080p 60FPS at Medium settings. However, since this graphics card also requires Performance DLSS to achieve 60FPS, weaker cards like the GeForce RTX 3060 may have to stick with 30FPS.

Therefore, among the Steam survey’s leading graphics cards, only the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and 3070 appear capable of handling Alan Wake 2, although Remedy’s requirements suggest the former may fall just short of the 60FPS target.

We believe these requirements would only be justified if the game is incredibly polished at release and pushes visual boundaries.

With the trend of poor PC ports, it is easy to see why the requirements have alarmed so many PC users. Nonetheless, with the reviews set to arrive in just a few days, we will be able to learn more about Alan Wake 2 and its performance soon.

Apart from PC, Alan Wake 2 will support 60FPS on Xbox Series X and PS5. Remedy claims the game will run well on this platform, but most of the reviewers have been sent PC codes for early access.
