Base PS5 Offers 60FPS With Ray Tracing As Default Gameplay Mode!

Story Highlight
  • Marvel’s Wolverine will run at 60FPS on the standard PS5 by default.
  • Insomniac says ray tracing remains active in this mode, something the team aimed to do from the beginning.
  • The team also focused on environmental destruction to showcase Logan’s powers.

Marvel’s Wolverine recently received a wave of new previews, and word on the street is that the game is quite exciting.

On the technical side of things, Insomniac Games also appears to be delivering solid 60FPS gameplay with ray tracing without making any compromises. In fact, the team says that this is the default mode on PS5.

Why it matters: Ray tracing typically requires a sacrifice, but Insomniac Games built Marvel’s Wolverine to support both ray tracing and 60FPS from the get-go.

Analysts are impressed with Marvel’s Wolverine’s next-gen graphics

IGN reports Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine has been developed to run at 60FPS on the base PS5 while keeping ray tracing enabled.

According to the team, performance modes with ray tracing have existed for a while, but they were mostly last-minute additions in the past. Marvel’s Wolverine, however, made this a priority from the beginning.

This is why the game defaults to 60FPS with ray tracing enabled on PS5. Insomniac Games says that this is something important to the final presentation of the title.

For this game, from the start, we said, “You know what? This is going to be a 60FPS game with ray tracing, as the PS5 should have.”

Insomniac Games added that the team paid a lot of attention to destruction for Marvel’s Wolverine in order to highlight Logan’s capabilities. The goal here was to show players the aftermath of a bloody battle after Wolverine was done dealing with his enemies.
