- Xbox Series sales went up by 12%, while PS5 dropped by 50% last month in the UK.
- This is led by Xbox’s increasing positive image and the launch of Forza Horizon 6.
- PS5 sales dropped as the console saw a £90 increase, taking the MSRP to £570.
Xbox, following the shift in leadership and strategic changes, seems to be winning back its players once again. New data suggests players have a lot of positive things to say about the company, and this is also leading to an increase in console sales.
According to a new report, Xbox Series X|S saw a 12% increase in sales in May, whereas PS5 sales dropped by 50% in the UK following the price hike. This is the first time in a long time that PS5 outsold Xbox by just 400 units.
Why it matters: PlayStation still had more sales, but it is great to see that Xbox is picking up pace as well. A huge chunk of that has got to do with the improved reception and launch of the much-awaited Forza Horizon 6.

New data from The Game Business reveals a 12% increase in sales for Xbox Series X|S and 50% drop in sales for PS5. The drop is associated with the price hike, which took PS5’s MSRP from £480 to £570 after a £90 increase.
Overall, the PS5 still sold more units, but only by 400 units. This shows that if Xbox can release good-quality exclusive titles, it can sell more consoles. However, Forza 6 is slated to release on PlayStation eventually as well.

Nonetheless, it is good to see that Xbox is competing again, as competition is always good for consumers. As the company increases its focus on hardware, it is expected to drop the next-gen Project Helix in 2027.
