5 Games Released In Last 9 Years!

Story Highlights
  • FromSoftware is one of the only AAA teams to release multiple games in the last five years.
  • The director gives credit to the skilled team for developing games at this pace without compromising on quality.
  • He believes the staff’s quick decision-making ensures an early start during development.

FromSoftware has developed a reputation for releasing a few of gaming’s biggest titles in the last decade. However, the studio is also popular for launching all of these games a few years apart.

According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, this is made possible due to the team’s efficient approach to game development.

Why it matters: Various studios have struggled to release a single game within five years as AAA development timelines continue to grow further.

Since Dark Souls 3, The Team Has Launched Three Major Games

After the recent excitement created by Shadow of the Erdtree, the developer’s largest expansion to date, Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke to IGN.

He elaborated on the workforce behind these AAA titles, saying that FromSoftware is blessed with skilled developers who are very talented and enjoy the process of creating games.

Miyazaki believes the team’s efficiency plays a key role in its brisk output. He added that when starting a project, the developers create ideas and quickly iterate through them.

A clear vision ensures that this stage goes by quickly and production is entered in a timely manner.

“We’re able to understand quickly what we want to make.”

This has allowed the team to develop a sense of trust within the studio.

In the last 9 years alone, this studio has launched a total of five games. Of those games, titles like Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 received DLC support, further highlighting the incredible release schedule.

The studio is now gearing up to launch Shadow of the Erdtree in June. However, given its history, we would not be surprised if FromSoftware’s next project was already headed toward completion despite Armored Core 6 arriving last year.

The studio’s latest work has been a major success, selling 2.8 million units. FromSoftware hopes to work on more Armored Core games moving forward, and the developer has also acknowledged the demand for a Bloodborne remake.
