The PS5 was launched worldwide in 2020. Following its release, the gaming giant has released various console revisions, changing the internals for efficient cooling and power consumption.
However, recent reports have claimed that Sony is preparing to launch the PS5 Slim in 2023. These reports come from reliable sources and hint at a detachable disc drive for the new revision.
While the model has not been confirmed, a Twitter user appears to have leaked the first image of the PS5 Slim.

The image was discovered on a forum and shared by Andrew Marmo, a former gaming journalist for reputed websites like VGC.
While the validity of the leak remains questionable, the image appears to confirm previous information. Recently, a source claimed that the PS5 Slim would feature a similar design and form factor as the original console.
As seen above, the image appears to be a slightly compact version of the current console design. Since it only shows half of the console, the report about a detachable disc drive cannot be confirmed.
Despite previous reports, it would be best to take this image with a slight grain of salt. If rumors are to be believed, Sony may officially announce the console as early as August 2023.
The gaming giant is releasing Spider-Man 2 in October, and the game would provide a perfect opportunity to release a new console revision on the market.
