Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC Has Been In Development For Over A Year

The Expansion Might Exceed Expectations!

FromSoftware rose to new heights with Elden Ring in 2022. Aspects like lore, music, and gameplay quickly captured audiences, and Elden Ring has stayed relevant for over a year since the game was released.

Elden Ring has been highly successful, as it sold more than 20 million copies and became one of the reasons that helped Hidetaka Miyazaki reach the top 100 most influential people of 2023.

The upcoming expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, was also announced a while ago. There has been little to no information about the new DLC, but the fans have been expecting great things from it.

However, a LinkedIn profile has given a small glimpse at the scope of this expansion. According to the LinkedIn profile of a senior FromSoftware developer Kenneth Chan, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has been in development for over a year now

Kenneth is the Lead Game Designer for this massive upcoming DLC, and his profile indicates that he has been working on the expansion since April 2022.

Previously, fans speculated that the Shadow of The Erdtree DLC would be released in 2023. This seems likely, as the DLC has been in development for over a year now.

However, FroSoftware’s Armored Core 6 is also expected to be released in August 2023. This might force FromSoftware to push the Elden Ring expansion a few months back to avoid two releases close to each other.

Looking at FromSoftware’s history, Dark Souls 3 DLCs were released less than a full year after the game’s release. This might indicate that Shadow of The Erdtree will be much bigger and more ambitious than any other FromSoftware DLC.

Fans should also notice that it is not yet clear how long the expansion has been in development. The developer’s profile only indicates that he has been working on the project for 13 months, so it could have been in development for longer.

Fans can expect great things from the DLC; however, the release date has not been confirmed, so the wait is not over yet. What do you think of the DLC being in development for over a year? Are you excited about it?
