New PS5 Commercial Hints At Uncharted Coming Back

Uncharted Coming Back For PlayStation 5?

The Uncharted franchise was at its peak during the PlayStation 3 lifecycle, leading the charge for first-party PlayStation releases. However, the last game in the franchise was released in 2017, and Sony has not revisited Nathan Drake since then.

Many fans had been curious about a new Uncharted game for the PS5, but Naughty Dog recently claimed that the studio had moved on from the franchise. However, a new Sony advertisement appears to hint toward Uncharted coming back.

The video goes over currently released and upcoming PS5 titles. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 16 can be seen in the commercial. However, fans have also spotted another exciting detail.

At one point, the commercial shows a female character exploring a cave with a torch. If this sounds familiar, this is not too far off from Uncharted.

While the PS5 commercial also shows previously released games, it would not make much sense to showcase the franchise without Nathan Drake, the face of Uncharted. As such, fans have suspected this could hint at a new chapter in the Uncharted universe

Previously, a rumor claimed a new Uncharted game was in development, but no official confirmation was made. While Naughty Dog seems to have moved on, this does not mean that other studios cannot make a follow-up to the critically acclaimed series of games.

The ending of Uncharted 4 also left off with a potential setup for a sequel if Sony ever decided to revisit the franchise. While Nathan Drake’s story was concluded in 2015, the franchise has a lot of room for future stories.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was also released on PC recently. The package included the two PS4 games with PS5 enhancements for the PC platform. While the release was underwhelming on PC, the franchise has a lot of life left.
