Alan Wake 2 impresses right out of the gate, throwing spectacular visuals, an immersive and haunting atmosphere, and an incredible soundtrack at fans of horror games.
Following up on a 13-year-old release, this title has managed to raise the bar for horror games. For qualities unique to Remedy’s approach to the horror genre, Alan Wake 2 has already won a Game of the Year award.
While it was unable to secure another Game of the Year award yesterday, Remedy’s latest title has claimed the Best Narrative award at TGA 2023.
Why it matters: Though the competition this year was the most exciting of The Game Awards, Alan Wake 2 won many awards as a wild card, highlighting its excellence in multiple departments.

In a year clouded by titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Remedy’s work has still managed to stand out.
Alan Wake 2 also competed with the remake of Resident Evil 4, one of the biggest entries of an IP famous for its horror roots. However, the former introduced new elements of mystery that set it apart from the horror games crowd.
Unraveling this complex tale provides an experience unlike any other, making the game worthy of this honor. Due to that, Remedy took home awards for the Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Game Direction.
The game was tied for most nominations with Baldur’s Gate 3. While it did not beat the latter in most categories, Alan Wake 2 did not disappoint.
We believe the game deserved every single title it won. Many fans were expecting it to win Game of the Year, but Baldur’s Gate 3 was just too big of a game to beat in 2023.
Celebrating this occasion, Remedy has also announced a New Game Plus mode, and it will be available on 11 December.
The Night Springs and The Lake House DLC are expected to be released in 2024. These releases will continue this story further, adding more depth to this immersive adventure.
