- GTA 6 is said to be closer to Red Dead Redemption 2 than GTA 5 in terms of its tone and characters.
- The game will feature plenty of detailed interactions between Jason and Lucia throughout the story.
- Fans can still expect the absurdity of GTA 5 in parts of the game.
GTA 6’s latest preview has yet again revealed additional details about the title, including the fact that it will feature hundreds of interiors for players to explore.
At the same time, GTA 6 will offer a narrative that hooks players in and puts them right at the center of Jason and Lucia’s lives. The new preview also reveals that this story will be more similar to Red Dead Redemption 2.
Why it matters: GTA 5 was extremely well received when it first launched, but the game can be a bit too much to handle when revisiting due to its over the top characters and extremely satirical tone.

Of course, this is an impression after very limited hands-off time with the game, but Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson’s past statements do also suggest that this will be the case.
Particularly, how the characters interact with each other and the more grounded tone of GTA 6 and its setting appear to have been directly inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2 as opposed to GTA 5.
The latter was perhaps a bit too exaggerated with its ridiculousness. This meant that the characters were not as relatable to many gamers.
Still, there was a lot of charm to what the team did with GTA 5, so it will also retain elements of that game’s craziness in GTA 6 while topping things off with Red Dead Redemption 2’s grounded style of narrative.
