- An analyst firm has predicted that Xbox Helix will sell 2 million units in its launch year.
- The sales will bump up to just around 7.3 million by 2030, which is underwhelming.
- The Helix could be Xbox’s last-ditch effort at surviving in the hardware market.
It is no secret that Xbox hardware has been struggling for quite some time. The Series X|S almost led to the end of the company as a console maker, but despite the lackluster sales, they are still pursuing a next-gen PC/console hybrid.
Many have called their last bet in the console market due to faltering sales. However, things already don’t look too great, as an analysis firm has predicted that the next-gen Project Helix will sell only around 2 million units in its first year.
Why it matters: The interest in Xbox consoles has already diminished, and the next-gen pricing won’t be any help. As things currently stand, many have predicted Helix to follow Steam Machine and cost around $1,000.

SGP Global Market Intelligence (via Gamesindustry.biz) has predicted weak launch sales for Xbox Helix, coming in at around 2 million in the launch year. They are expected to reach a quite underwhelming 7.3 million by 2030.
The same report also revealed that Xbox Series X|S are expected to sell roughly 2.5 million units this year, and now, comparing that to Helix’s launch figures, this is already ringing alarm bells for the gaming giants.

Xbox’s image somewhat improved when Sharma took over, but it has dipped again based on the recent layoffs and studio eliminations. However, they aren’t entirely to blame for next-gen prices due to the ongoing RAM crisis.
The Series X already costs around $800, and considering that the Helix will be a hybrid just like the Steam Machine, there is hardly any chance it’ll cost less than $1,000, although the boss has promised to keep it affordable.
