CDPR recently announced a huge revamp for its biggest title with The Witcher 3 Remastered. This edition is set to launch ahead of the Songs of the Past DLC coming in 2027.
The Witcher 3 Remastered will also be available for the Nintendo Switch 2 soon, and for those worried about performance following the original game’s results on the Nintendo Switch, CDPR says that things will be just fine.
Why it matters: The Nintendo Switch 2 has seen plenty of impressive AAA ports already, with CD Projekt Red previously delivering a similar translation with Cyberpunk 2077.
Speaking to PCGamer, CD Projekt Red indicated that The Witcher 3 Remastered should not have major trouble running on Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch 2.
According to Jakub Kutrzuba, the team’s executive producer of external projects, The Witcher 3 Remastered is able to deliver improvements without massively increasing the cost of hardware.
This is possible due to the team’s new rendering engine. As such, CDPR states that Steam Deck performance will remain largely similar to before while delivering a superior visual experience.
As for the Nintendo Switch 2, fans should expect similar improvements.
We are just capable of showing a more beautiful image with the same cost. This is also the case for the Nintendo Switch 2.
