Likely Placeholders And Would Be Replaced At Launch!

Story Highlight
  • Players are accusing the Stellar Blade Blood Rain trailer of using gen AI elements.
  • The trailer had some textures filled in using AI, along with Chinese language text.
  • It is still early in development, so they will likely be replaced later, pre-release.

Shift Up Entertainment revealed the Stellar Blade sequel yesterday at the Summer Game Fest with a stunning trailer, introducing a new protagonist. But, despite how beautiful the world looked, some players have identified AI slop in the trailer.

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted that the Stellar Blade Blood Rain trailer was likely using AI-generated elements in the background. This includes details in the buildings and Chinese text that don’t translate to anything.

Why it matters: Chinese and Korean developers have now largely become accustomed to using gen-AI during game development, as it helps expedite the process, but the content is generally replaced later on.

The Stellar Blade sequel trailer is accused of using gen AI elements

Players have spotted that in the Stellar Blade Blood Rain trailer, you can see AI-generated elements in certain areas. They have been used to fill in details in buildings, but more importantly, in the Chinese text.

People who can read the language have confirmed that the text is gibberish and doesn’t mean anything, which is a big giveaway of gen AI content. However, this shouldn’t be too big a deal in the long run.

Some textures and text in the background appear AI-generated

The game is still in very early development stages, and most developers now use the tech to fill textures during this phase. In most cases, they are replaced by hand-made assets when the game launches.
