Valve Fires Back at Epic’s New Improved Launcher by Making Steam Client Even Faster

Testing Shows A Plethora of Issues With Epic Launcher As Well!

Story Highlight
  • Epic Games revealed its new Vibe Coded launcher, claiming it’s faster than Steam.
  • Valve has launched a new update that already makes the Steam client faster again.
  • On top of that, the new Epic launcher has a ton of issues in early testing.

Steam has always been the default platform of choice for PC gamers. It is easy on the system, convenient, and consumer-friendly. Epic Games has been trying to position its launcher as a serious competitor, but Valve pulls ahead.

Not even a day ago, Epic revealed its updated launcher, taking shots at Steam for now being slower than the latter; however, Valve took no time to respond and has already dropped an update to make Steam even faster.

Why it matters: This is a great improvement for Epic Games, considering it took so much time to simply reach the launcher, but the Steam client remains the king, and the company has shown why it’s ahead of the competition.

Valve has announced a new update for the Steam Client, which makes the startup performance even faster. Testing has shown that it has already outpaced Epic’s new launcher and opens quicker than that.

So, Epic claimed that they vibe-coded their launcher to be quicker. While that has been another point of debate in itself, the claim was that Steam took nearly 10 seconds to load, while Epic now takes just around 5.47s, to be exact.

Following the update, Steam Client opens in just around 5.23 seconds. The difference might not be noticeable, but it shows how efficient Valve is at keeping the experience top-notch and remaining at the top of the league.

Additionally, the new vibe-coded launcher also comes with a plethora of issues. For one, it is completely broken; windows can’t be moved, and it doesn’t even ask where on your PC do you want the game to be installed.
