- Rockstar Games employees have accused the studio of some serious allegations.
- They say the studio enforces crunch, extra working hours, pay gaps, and poor bonuses.
- This comes ahead of the studio preparing to launch its biggest title, GTA 6.
Rockstar Games is gearing up to launch GTA 6, and the hype is real. The game has already allegedly made over $1 billion in pre-sales, and the numbers will only get better. However, the studio has been accused of some serious allegations.
Some members of the Rockstar Game Workers Union have accused the GTA 6 developers of enforcing crunch, not being transparent about salaries, and providing poor bonuses, despite the company being financially well.
Why it matters: This isn’t the first time that Rockstar has been accused of such practices, and the case has emerged once again. This comes despite Take-Two’s president claiming that their studio doesn’t go through crunch at all.

According to a new report by Game Developer, three anonymous members of RGWU, who weren’t part of the rest union-busting, have accused Rockstar Games of crunch, pay inequity, and weaponizing bonuses.
Crunch is prevalent enough that the company built into our contracts, as standard, an opt-out of the Working Time Regulations that stops your employer being able to ask you to do more than about 10 hours extra each week.

They state the bonuses can be good at times, but mostly they are terrible and far less than what they expect. The salaries and bonuses are inconsistent between departments and lack transparency, which is a major issue.
They also dropped a bombshell about the crunch, and state that it is so prevalent that the statement is written in their contracts. Developers are required to work a lot more than their working hours despite the low bonuses.
