Resident Evil is one of the most prominent and successful gaming franchises of all time. While the quality has always been exceptional, the last few years have been wonderful for fans with consistent quality new releases and remakes. 

Fans could be in for a treat as Capcom has hinted that Resident Evil games could become annual releases, as they are focusing on more remakes. There will be new releases, but to keep with consistency, more remakes will come. 

Why it matters: Since there are still many games in the franchise that are too dated and there is massive demand for them, this will be great news for the fans. This means that the franchise is now going full steam ahead at Capcom

Capcom plans to release Resident Evil games annually

Talking to Game Informer, Capcom’s Masachika Kawata talked about the influx of Resident Evil games we’ve seen in recent years. He said because they can’t pump out a new game every year, they moved to remakes. 

Being able to revisit older games and remake them helps Capcom meet that goal of releasing a Resident Evil title each year, but it also allows the team to continually challenge themselves and hone their craft.

He said the studio aims to release a new game in the franchise every year, and this allows them to do so. Additionally, since they are easier to make, it allows them to hone their skills and generate profits for new releases and IPs. 

Recently, it was revealed that Resident Evil 4 was the best-selling remake of this generation. Capcom already has Resident Evil Code Veronica planned for next year, and there are no plans to stop right there.
