PS5 emulation is moving much faster than anybody expected, showing incredible progress through games like Demon’s Souls Remake and Astro Bot. In fact, these games could soon run at 60FPS.

Now, PS5 emulation seems to have made yet another leap with Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Why it matters: The PS5 could end up making history as the fastest-emulated Sony console if emulation support ends up maturing before the PS6’s release.

As of the latest update, Silent Hill 2 Remake has been rendered on an integrated GPU through an experimental KyTyPS5 emulator build.

KyTyPlus, based on the same emulator, has rendered the game on an AMD Radeon 840 iGPU.  The game itself runs at a mere 4FPS for now, but this is hardly concerning, given that other titles have rapidly shown major improvements in performance.

The big question right now is when PS5 emulation will reach a truly viable state. Other games like Astro’s Playroom have also shown similar progress lately, hinting that it won’t be long before PC gamers can emulate PS5 titles.

Given the fact that Silent Hill 2 Remake is a demanding Unreal Engine 5 title, this update is perhaps more exciting than the rest. It remains to be seen how much the emulator will progress further in the coming weeks and months.
