After Resident Evil Requiem’s immense success and critical reception, all eyes are on Capcom’s next project in the franchise. The studio is set to remake Code Veronica, modernizing the highly beloved iteration with a reimagined storyline while preserving its essence.
However, we might have to wait much longer for the game than previously anticipated. Veronica has reportedly been internally delayed to Fall 2027.
Why it matters: The entry was previously expected to launch in the second quarter of 2027, which would have still been 8 to 10 months earlier than initially planned. However, Capcom’s growing milestones for the project have pushed it more towards the end of 2027.
This tidbit was reported via Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem on Twitter, who heard from three of his sources that Veronica has been internally postponed to Fall 2027.
The game skipping an appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2026 also suggests the same grim development. Dusk adds that Capcom made this change later in development as developer ambitions grew, since the project was planned for an earlier launch before.
It’s also worth noting that a Resident Evil Requiem DLC was rumored to launch after Veronica, but it’s unclear whether Capcom will now release it before the remake or later after Veronica comes out.
Some of the Requiem DLC’s story elements would have reportedly made more sense after the remake, but delaying it too long might also not be a wise choice.
Regardless, it’s best to take these rumors with a grain of salt for now.
On a side note, Resident Evil Veronica has already been wishlisted by over 2 million people on Steam, and it is expected to be much harder than Resident Evil 2. The game will also allegedly have a premium price tag of $79.99.
